Day 70 Low Carb Meals & 10 Week Weigh-In



Happy Monday! πŸ™‚ It’s Day 71 of the Spring Low Carb Challenge, and we weigh in every week on Monday mornings. If you’re participating in the low carb challenge Facebook group, you’ll find the Week 10 Weigh-In thread here.

I figured out why I was having cravings, and why I was restless and irritable Saturday night – and why I had a headache again yesterday. πŸ˜›

Remember that cookie I ate on Wednesday?! Yup. It threw me flat out of ketosis! So here I am, going through the lovely keto flu again. πŸ˜› Ack!

I feel much better today though. While the symptoms are a royal pain (literally) they only last a day or so for me – thank goodness!

That’s a seriously good deterrent for eating off plan, lol.

I don’t understand the people who do carb cycling or weekly cheat days. That would mean you’d have “the low carb flu” EVERY week. Yuck! 😯

My 10-Week Weigh-In

I saw another all-time low number on my scales this morning. I now weigh only 144.6 pounds. Last Monday I was 148 pounds, so that’s almost 3 1/2 pounds lost this week – and a total of 10 full pounds lost during this challenge so far. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Yes that’s only 10 pounds, or only a pound a week, but that’s GREAT at my weight!! It’s also great considering I’m so focused on GAINING muscle weight. πŸ™‚ I’m very pleased with today’s weigh-in!!

Here is my Low Carb Food Diary for Day 70 of the β€œGet Lean For Summer!” 90 Day Low Carb Challenge. It’s NEVER too late to join if you haven’t already!

Day 70: Sunday’s Low Carb Meals

I had a healthy low carb breakfast – my now famous “low carb cereal” lol: 1/2 cup crushed pecans, 1/4 cup Daisy brand cottage cheese, 4 small diced strawberries… and I added 1/8 cup diced blueberries too.

I was craving blueberries yesterday! πŸ™‚ I use frozen berries because they are easier to dice slightly frozen. This bowl came to 8 net carbs and 83% healthy fats.

My leftover “sausage & spinach” with two fried eggs on top made for an easy low carb lunch. That was really delicious – I love spinach. The funny thing is… I never liked spinach before going low carb, and now I crave it!

By the end of the day I was tired AND I had just started the dishwasher πŸ™‚ lol… so I just grabbed some Oscar Mayer turkey slices & colby jack cheese and a bottled water. No dishes, no cooking = Happy Me!!

I ended up getting 1/4 cup (30 grams) of pecan halves to go with that too…

I said yesterday my abs & arms weren’t sore after doing 100 ab reps and the Tricep Dips. I was wrong. I just didn’t realize I was sore until I went to do it again last night – lol. I wimped out after 60 reps on the Ab Carver Pro! Fortunately I did the Tricep Dips first πŸ™‚ haha… And YES, those are working too!

As for my weight… yes, I’m tripping – lol. WOW. I think in my late 20’s I weighed around 142 pounds. I was a healthy size and in semi decent shape. Better shape than I’m in now for sure. I don’t really have a “number goal” (I’ve already reached – and passed! – that) so at this point it’s all about the toning and muscle building…

Low Carb Weight Loss


We’re under heat advisory here in Tennessee this week with 90+ degree temps and high humidity. Not ideal for daily walks, and definitely not for hiking! I’m focusing on my indoor arm & core workouts anyway, so it’s good timing. πŸ˜‰

    Quick question..What do u snack on if you go to movies? I LOVE POPCORN!

      Hi Jessica πŸ™‚

      I eat before I go, and usually enjoy a really nice meal so I’m too full to snack. For the price of drinks & snacks at a movie theater… you can eat a NICE meal somewhere, lol.

      I also watch them dip in and out of that big popcorn thing, and easily get grossed out. It’s not the cleanest thing πŸ˜› hands in and out, breathing in it, their hair – I dunno, it really doesn’t appeal to me at all, lol.

    So excited for you! I finally dipped below 150 this morning at 149 after a three week stall. That happens every once in a while so I don’t get to freaked out anymore. Usually I’ll drop 3 or 4 pounds then stall. I don’t mind as long as the scale is going down! Even though I thought my goal would be around 145, I also have some jiggle on my tummy that is slow to disappear. I want it gone! So, when my tummy fat is gone I will have reached my goal. As far as exercise goes, I either walk or ride my bike at least 30/45 minutes every evening and I’m super busy on my feet working throughout the day. Thanks Lynn for inspiring us all!!!

      That’s awesome, Marti!! πŸ™‚ My scales will “stick” for weeks at a time too. It’s normal I think. Congrats on getting below 150. I know that was a BIG deal for me – and still is! πŸ™‚

      Cardio is good, especially for overall heart health etc, but I turned to strength training and weights (like the Ab Carver) for actually making a noticeable difference in my trouble spots: batwings & armpit tits (lol) plus my midsection – tummy, hips, etc.

    I did it. I waited the FULL Week for weighing myself. I was hesitant and nervous. But I waited, I am a chronic every day weigh in girl, no matter what. I got worried thinking what if I gained weight? I hated not knowing. But I got on this morning, and it was lower than last monday! Super happy, that I trusted the system……I think I’m still only at 10lbs for this challenge, but better than the alternative.

    I am going to try it again, and trust the system.

    Congrats on your low weight! That is awesome. I really want to get the ab carver, still wishing I had it.

    I love reading your daily updates, they really help me.

      Kudos – I can only imagine how tough that was! I weigh every morning myself, but only because I can handle the fluctuations. I know I really MISS my scales when I’m traveling lol.

      Congrats on your weight loss so far too. 10 pounds is a BIG deal. I know it has been for me – in how I look and feel, and what I can wear now… and what I can’t, lol.

    Lyn. Your weight loss is so amazing and what is even more amazing is what great shape you are getting into it is so obvious how lean you are looking. That is what i am working on now—-building strong muscles by exercising every day and just MOVING as much as possible. And YES. I dance while driving. I love i . πŸ™‚ ( us geminis are a lot alike)
    I went to the doctor today and my Blood pressure was perfect. He said all my blood tests were good. He said that whatever i am doing (healthwise) to keep it up. I lost 8.5 lbs since my last visit at the end of March this is good for me i guess because i lost so much weight in the kast 2 years that my weight loss is so slow now but yet i am happy about it.
    I took my scale to the hotel with me but i only weigh once a week. Somehow my scale will only show my results in KG…..i am getting used to it. LOL. IT Looks like i weigh so much less in KG. Haha. πŸ™‚
    i tried a new Atkins bar. It is the dark chocolate salt caramel and almond bar. It has NO sugar alcohols in it (those heally play havoc with my digestive system) this bar has 4 net carbs and a lot of fiber. It was very filling and satisfied my hunger on the go, until i could eat a real meal.
    as we are approaching, the near to the end of this challenge, i am going to really step up my game by really watching my carbs and excersize more……no cheats.
    I thought about ice cream yesterday but glad i did not give in. I think my cravings were due to keto flu also. I felt so weak too but today i had little hunger again and all sorts of energy. I think i am back on track once again

      I am ready to finish this challenge STRONG too. Less than three weeks to go!! And thank you – I do feel so much leaner, but wow… I have a lot of work to do lol. I’ll be releasing some very revealing photos soon, along with my goals on what to do to “fix it” πŸ˜› haha.

      So glad to hear you’re powering through the cravings too. It hits me so rarely now, really only if I eat something off plan as that induces the cravings. But giving in to them just puts us back on the roller coaster – and I know neither of us want that. πŸ˜‰
