There are all kinds of scams online, including fake low carb products and mislabeling or misrepresentation of products. You remember the recent Dreamfields Pasta lawsuit, right? Ack! Check out this video about a questionable low carb bread company too:
Scary, right? 😐 And maybe you’ve ordered products you just didn’t LIKE. It’s enough to make you wary about trying anything else! Which is totally fine, because there is certainly enough “real food” to choose from on a low carb diet without ever needing “products”. A diet of meat & greens with healthy fats will sustain and satisfy you easily. That said, sometimes you just WANT a sandwich – or the idea of crackers and warm toast appeal when you’re sick. I get it. I’m the same way.
Over the years, after trying a few low carb bread companies, I resorted to making my own low carb biscuits and low carb garlic cheese bread. Both are great! They’re even relatively easy to make. But sometimes (more often than not, lol) I don’t feel like piddling in the kitchen and/or I don’t have all the ingredients on hand.
Then I found The Great Low Carb Bread Company…
Above is a Low Carb Bagel with Tuna Salad and a slice of mild cheddar. This is the “Everything Bagel” and it has a nice hearty flavor to it, with a hint of garlic. It’s only 2 net carbs, and has a very nice bagel texture. The ingredients aren’t that much different than store-bought Thomas brand bagels, except they’re slightly better…

After eating several packages of these over the last six weeks, to test them for myself, I did some research around the web to find out what others in the low carb and diabetic communities had to say about The Great Low Carb Bread Company. Here’s a snippet I found on the blog of a diabetic:
“They use high-quality, non-GMO ingredients like almond flour, flax meal, oat fiber, and all-natural stevia. Their ingredients are Kosher, and their products are free of soy and hard-to-digest sugar alcohols, which is good news for my tummy. One thing I noticed and liked about the company right away was that all they make is bread products: bagels, sliced breads, hot dog buns, even pizza crust. They’re not trying to make every product low carb, they’re just doing breads in an amazing array of options. I love that kind of focus and commitment to quality!” –source
I read an entire thread on the Low Carb Friends forum regarding The Great Low Carb Bread Company – and everyone who tested their various low carb bread products (including several diabetics) said the same things:
– It does NOT spike blood sugar
– It does NOT stall weight loss
– It does NOT knock you out of ketosis
I’ve experienced the same results too of course. No weight loss stalls, no bloating, and it doesn’t induce weird cravings – Bingo! 😉 I cannot find a single negative review or questionable comment about this company or their products.
I’ve been through four packages of the low carb bagels now myself, and will be definitely be trying more of their low carb breads.
Here is a full list of The Great Low Carb Bread Company products that are currently available at Netrition (the ONE place you can order them with reasonable shipping rates):
- Low Carb Bagels (The “Everything Bagel” is my favorite!)
- Low Carb Sliced Bread
- Low Carb Breadsticks
- Low Carb Dinner Rolls
- Low Carb Hot Dog Buns
- Low Carb Pizza Crust
- Low Carb Hamburger Buns
- Low Carb Soft Pretzels
- Low Carb Onion Pockets
They also have Gluten Free, Paleo Products:
- Gluten Free (Low Carb) Paleo Sliced Bread
- Gluten Free Paleo Granola
- Gluten Free (Low Carb) Paleo Macaroons
I highly recommend you order from Netrition, because it’s the cheapest on shipping – compared to the company website or Amazon. Netrition also ships incredibly fast, even to my small agricultural town. They have tons more products to choose from as well, including Almond Meal for making your own low carb breads or sugar free products – like the Sugar Free Mountain Berry Preserves (which I LOVE!).
Note: It’s not necessary to request the thermal packaging or faster shipping. I used the regular $4.99 flat rate shipping. They ship super fast, and even on two warm days where my package was left outside one day and part of the next… they were fine and fresh. 😉 And of course with the flat rate shipping, you can order as many groceries as you please without paying more for shipping.
I encourage you to look over the ingredients, and to read the comments here and here. Also check out the Amazon reviews. But you’ll want to order them from Netrition (the shipping is too high on Amazon). It’s nice to find a low carb bread company you can TRUST, that actually creates a high quality product… that tastes GREAT. 😀
Best,
Lynn Terry

p.s. This is one of those foods that boils down to convenience, and just easily grabbing something quick. I don’t NEED bread, or even crave it, but it doesn’t dirty any dishes to toast a bagel and stack it up into a sandwich – which I can do in under a minute, and have something hearty (but still healthy!) to eat on the go. 😉
It’s DEFINITELY better than grabbing something like an Atkins bar – for taste, satisfaction AND nutritional value (er, compare the ingredients there -lol).

I’ve been buying from netrition for some time now, I started buying from them because my husband is diabetic and he loves bread of any kind! We had searched forever for good bread and found exactly what you did! I’m doing low carb now and I love the bread! Thanks for sharing and I agree!
Lynn Terry says
I’m glad to hear that, Brenda! I’ve had nothing but GREAT experiences ordering from Netrition over the years. And I’m really glad I found this low carb bread company! Others I’ve tried have not resulted in repeat orders. π lol. I’m sure you’ve tried your share too!
Had your husband discovered the same thing, as a diabetic – that he got no spikes from this bread? Thanks!

Lynn: You are an inspiration! I am so sorry about your sweet dog. The bread products sound amazing. Have you found a “pasta” replacement also that works good for you??? How nice it would be to have low carb Bread and Pasta??? Thank You.
Lynn Terry says
Thank you Kathy π I have not found a “pasta product” but to be fair I haven’t looked too hard. I simply eat my Chicken Alfredo over steamed or roasted vegetables now. π
That said, Zoodles are the most popular option: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/3892/zucchini-pasta/ Enjoy!

Exas Black Bean pasta (angel hair style) is amazing! Cooks up nice and firm and makes you feel like you’re eating the real thing. Tons of protein and no heavy black bean taste! It’s sold in most Whole Foods and find health food stores! I hope you find some and get your al fredo on! π

I have found the Dixie skinny spaghetti at netrition and love it.

I have to tell you thank you so much for posting about the low carb bagels! I just received my order yesterday and had one for breakfast today and it was a life saver, they’re SO good! I even got my mom into them! Also I wanted to say thank you for posting about the “not losing/stalling post” I didn’t realize cheese was a stall culprit! I cut it out though and it broke my stall, so thank you again π I appreciate your info and blog, very helpful! π
Lynn Terry says
I’m so glad you’re enjoying them too, Laine! π Aren’t they a great find?!
Very cool you broke your stall too. Sometimes it can be the simplest of things! *cheers*

I just received my order of bagels yesterday. Really good and so nice to have a bagel and cream cheese with my scrambled eggs. Thanks for the recommendation.
Lynn Terry says
You’re most welcome, Jan! π I’m so glad you’re enjoying them too!! I have another order on the way now, and can’t wait to get it. I’m hoping it arrives today, lol. YUM! What a GREAT find, right? π
Nichole H says
Thank you for recommending the bagels. I just got mine today and they are so yummy and the taste and texture are just like a normal bagel.
Do you store your in the freezer like Netrition recommends? Just wondering on convenience.
Lynn Terry says
I don’t – I don’t even refrigerate mine. I just leave them out on the counter. My house stays around 68-72 degrees, and they do just fine.
Glad you got yours and LOVE them!! π
Maria Isais says
I just received my first order and I did freeze them. Next order I will keep out. Thanks!
Kari says
I so wish they’d leave out the Stevia. I can’t eat sugar, and, I really can’t even eat Stevia – although , I do, from time to time. I just wish these companies would quite using sweeteners, unless it’s fruit juice or vegetable juice, sweetened. Hopefully, someday….
Connie Cox says
Terry, I just ordered the low carb breads from Netrition. I ordered: Cinnamon bagels, pumpkin spice bagels and plain bread. I’m starting to really miss bread! Hope it is tasty.

You had better watch this video before ordering

Lynn Terry says
I actually shared that video at the top of this page. π I agree – you have to be VERY careful about buying ANY “low carb products”. That’s why I’m so in love with this company.
See this post: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/5564/low-carb-bagel-ingredients/ where I break down the ingredients and compare them to another brand…

I love your sight and your taking the time to share. I have always know low carb was the way to go, but always struggled with it. After finding Netrition, I had the mindset that now, I can have low carb bread, when the time comes. It is truly amazing. I have a sandwich on rye with a NY deli pickle and don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything anymore!!!!!
I was also scared when I read about all the low carb scamming. But if you look at the ingredients of the low carb bread company’s products, they are truly different and low carb. I only hope we don’t find out differently later and get our hearts broken!!
Great job!! Thanks again!!
Marie says
I’m wondering if any of you have tried eating four slices at once or two bagels? Did it throw you out of ketosis?
Lynn Terry says
Marie,
I tried to stick to one serving per day max, but there were a few days that I did eat more than one bagel, or 4 slices in one day – and I continued to lose just fine. π
Jesse says
Hi Lynn,
I know this post about low carb bagels and bread is over a year old, so I wanted to double check with you if this information is still valid? I’m a diabetic (Type 2) and I’ve been able to stop all insulin by eating LCHF. But I still have to be very careful with carbs/sugars and that is why I count total carbs versus net carbs.
In 2016, is this company’s bread/bagels still okay to have and to stay in ketosis? I realize everybody’s metabolism is different, so I”ll order it and hope it does not raise my blood glucose. I”ll be thrilled if it works because I miss bread the most.
Thank you for this post! π
Lynn Terry says
Hi Jesse π Yes – this is still a favorite! I did a TON of research on it back when I first found them and first ordered & tried it myself. There were a lot of diabetics discussing it (positively). You can do some searches to see for yourself. Of course testing it is the best. I’m really impressed with this company though. I have a breakdown of the ingredients here: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/5564/low-carb-bagel-ingredients/

Hello Lynn,
I am prepping to go low-carb after the holidays and am worried that I will not be able to resists cereal, pasta and bread. If I order products with low net carbs, does this mean I can use them as much as I want, as long as I stick to my daily net carb limit?
Lynn Terry says
Hi Valerie,
You’ll be surprised at how easy it is! A low carb diet is a natural appetite suppressant, and also somehow (I call it magic!) totally curbs your cravings – which makes it tons easier. π
I like to keep it simple: meat & greens + healthy fats. Meaning: as much “real food” and simple meals as possible. But I do love the low carb bread and other products in place of high carb options, to keep me on plan when I want something like that. Just choose your products carefully, enjoy them in moderation, and let this diet do it’s magic. π

Hi Lynn. The only low carb bread I’ve ever tried is Sami’s Bakery out of Tampa. I can find it in my local health food store, but you can also order it online. I really like it the low carb bread and the low carb cinnamon raisin bread. I hope it’s not fake! The prices are reasonable when I buy it locally, but I don’t know how much shipping is. Here’s their low carb web page if you haven’t tried it: https://samisbakery.com/low-carb/

I want to know the Difference Between NET CARB’S & Plain CARB’s ?
Lynn Terry says
Hi Larry,
Net Carbs are the Total Carbs minus Fiber.
From the Atkins website, “The Net Carbs number reflects the grams of carbohydrate that significantly impact your blood sugar level and therefore are the only carbs you need to count when you do Atkins. Foods that are low in Net Carbs such as nutrient-dense vegetables and fruits donβt have a significant impact on blood sugar and therefore are less likely to interfere with weight loss.”

I would like to find some low carb tested
