Challenge Details: Important Links & Information

The Fall Low Carb Challenge runs from September 5th to December 3rd, 2017.

Starting Weigh-In Thread In The Private Group

Make sure you weigh-in at the link above, in a comment below here on this post, or in your MyFitnessPal account (or whatever app/method you use to track your progress).

Join us for a 13 weeks of FUN, challenging ourselves to be healthier & leaner & stronger than ever before!

This challenge is only 13 weeks, just 3 months, only 90 days. It’s enough time to break bad habits, create new habits, improve your health dramatically, lose a substantial amount of weight, and feel amazing!

The timing is perfect to be leaner & look awesome for the holidays! πŸ™‚

The challenge: To eat low carb for 90 full days!

That means: 20 net carbs per day max, 70% fat minimum.

By committing to this challenge you agree to stay on track for 90 days by eating 20 net carbs per day MAX, and at least 70% of your calories in healthy fats.

What You Need To Know To Get Started:

Throughout the challenge, I host FUN mini-challenges and share helpful tips & creative ideas. Watch for those! There will be a new theme every week. πŸ™‚ You’ll receive those details by email, and also find those in the Challenge Facebook Group.

Fall Low Carb Challenge To-Do List

1. Weigh yourself first thing in the morning.
This is the ONLY true weigh-in, as your weight fluctuates 5 pounds or more throughout a single day. Post/Log your starting weight today.

2. Set up MyFitnessPal and record your weight there, and also log all of your meals.

This is how I have MyFitnessPal Set Up To Track Net Carbs.
That only works online, not on mobile/tablet.

3. Take body measurements as well, and record those in MyFitnessPal too.

Sometimes you’ll lose more inches than pounds, and it’s another great way to track your progress!

4. I highly recommend you take a “before photo” today. You’ll regret not having pictures to compare! Sometimes the scales may not show much loss, but comparison photos tell a different story. πŸ™‚

5. Read The 8 links above. Educate yourself on how the Low Carb Diet (and this challenge) works!

Do These Steps:

  • Sign up by email at 90DayLowCarbChallenge.com
This will put you on the list to receive official challenge updates. This is not the same as Facebook emails from the group, so make sure you subscribe if you haven’t already!
  • Read the Pinned Post in the Facebook Group
Plus the Getting Started links I shared above. This will eliminate A LOT of repeat questions! πŸ™‚ The Group Rules are posted there as well.

^ Make sure you have all of these steps covered!

Here’s to an AWESOME challenge together! πŸ™‚ *cheers*

I want to help you every step of the way. I’ll be here for you, and like always I’ll share tips & ideas & thoughts with you along the way to help you through all of the challenges of losing weight and getting healthy. I’m in for the challenge. I subscribed to the classes, placed a new order with Netrition, and set up a monthly subscription for the Ginger Tumeric Fat Snax cookies! I love your recommendations and find we have similar opinions on what flavors taste great. Since reading somewhere that you get a commission from sales that link from here, I always follow your links. If I’m going to order anyway, I’m happy to help a sister out! Thanks for sharing with us!

    • Lynn Terry says:

Thank you so much for that, Stacie – that means the world to me, your support. πŸ™‚ Your note totally made my day!!

I really love Netrition and all the great things I find there that I can’t get locally. And the Ginger Turmeric cookies are my FAVE! Enjoy. πŸ˜‰

  3. PAMELA says:

I am still having problems getting the FIBER column calculation. On your page called FUN App to track carbs, I went to ” 2. Download this addon for Firefox ” What should ‘happen’ when I click on that?

    • Lynn Terry says:

Did you change the macronutrients you are tracking in MyFitnessPal based on my instructions? After you click to install the Firefox plugin, you should activate it. If it doesn’t ask you to, you may have to go to your Firefox settings and activate it manually. Or try rebooting / restarting firefox… There is a link in my instructions to activate it also…

Let me know if you can’t get it to work. πŸ˜‰

  4. Denise says:

Weighed in at 170 this morning! Down 30 pounds since January. I check your blog every day for your inspiration and great simple meal ideas. I have been making your low carb cereal lately and it’s seriously delicious. Thank you for all you do!

  5. Patricia L. says:

I would love to be apart of this challenge.. I do not have any social media. I went from 156 to 139 following your site last year this time and I maintained buy eating low carb 2 out of 3 meals a day. Then I slowly went to 2 carb filled meals then 3 and that in addition to quitting breast feeding (5 lbs gained!) I’m back to 150 as of this morning. My original goal was 135 but I’d love to just get back to 139-141 range. I also was able to lose weight at first just by eating low carb but not actually tracking my carbs but I’ve noticed by doing that I’m over eating in low carb foods and I think it’s causing me not to lose as fast. I try to eat your simple 3 ingredient meals… I can’t do eggs though.

We are leaving on a hunting trip in the morning and will be gone for 6 days but you’ve proven it’s possible to eat low carb even while out of town.

  6. Lynn Terry says:

Hi Patricia, You can simply follow along via email and right here on the blog with me. πŸ˜‰

I go through phases with eggs, usually just because they’re easy – but so is 1/2 cup of pecan halves and a couple of strawberries. πŸ™‚ So just pick the foods you do like and can eat, because there are TONS of low carb foods to choose from.

Tracking was the key for me. I discovered hidden carbs, and also found out I was eating “too lean” which totally stalled my weight loss (and my energy levels!). πŸ˜›

Enjoy your trip! I’m traveling as well, and of course eating low carb on the road and on the go as well. πŸ˜‰ *cheers*

    • Patricia L. says:

Thanks for the tips. I’m also about easy! I look on Pinterest for ideas a lot but everything always has a ton of ingredients and I don’t have time for all that.. most the time the stuff doesn’t end up tasting fantastic anyway and a lot of food and money is wasted.

I picked up the ingredients for your cereal for my breakfast while on our trip. It’s going to take a while to get used to these new foods but soon I will enjoy them all more… or even if I don’t once I see the scale start moving it will make me enjoy them more!

      • Lynn Terry says:

You’ll be surprised how your taste buds change as you get into ketosis. πŸ˜‰ And I’m with you… I do NOT have time for complicated recipes and weird ingredients, lol.

I wasted a lot of time & money in the beginning trying out some of those things myself. Simple is GOOD! πŸ˜‰

  7. Marie A. Dix says:

    Hi Lynn,
Love low carb? I have been on lchf since July 26 and lost 24 lbs. as of today. I started wearing a tight size 22. I am now a very loose size 20. I am on this for the long haul. Thanks for adding me to the challenge. Good luck to everyone!

    • Lynn Terry says:

Awesome, Marie – congrats!! Those are GREAT results so far. Kudos for taking control of your health and getting serious about your weight loss goals. πŸ˜‰

    • Lynn Terry says:

Welcome Beth πŸ™‚ You will be SO glad you did this for yourself. Getting rid of extra weight is awesome, but most of us realize: getting rid of shame and self loathing and all that other stuff is even BETTER.

I do not have FB – however, I will be on your site actively participating in this challenge. I was very successful last time — just started AGAIN, yesterday, after a 10 month and 23 lb gain hiatus! Thank you for posting this as well as ur inspo and the Instagram posts also to keep us on track πŸ™‚
    Starting weight: 231 lbs

    • Lynn Terry says:

Great, Peggy – I’m so glad you’re joining us here! πŸ™‚ We have a great community here at the blog, on Instagram, and of course on Facebook as well. But I try to make it easy to participate regardless of your social media preferences. πŸ˜‰

  13. Angela Mason says:

    Hi Lynn Terry!!!
I am just beginning my 90 day challenge. I was low-carbing for 2 mos, lost very little, then came to a halt…got frustrated…quit. Gonna try to concentrate more on food prep…I’m sure you can help me be more successful..

    • Lynn Terry says:

      Hi Angela πŸ™‚
How were you tracking before? I use MyFitnesspal. I do 20 net carbs max, 70% fat minimum – and keep it THAT simple. πŸ™‚

Speaking of simple, the more simple your meals the better. Try just doing very simple combinations of meat & greens & healthy fats – like salmon, avocado & broccoli. Or bacon & eggs. Ribeye and asparagus, etc.

Pecans make a great snack because they are very high fat and filling, and a real food – I eat a serving every day, which makes it easy to keep my macros right. Let me know if you have any questions! πŸ˜‰
