Pigs In A Blanket have always been a favorite at my house, and I had all the ingredients (including “blankets” lol – Crescent Rolls) leftover from the holidays where I made some for the kids.
Last night I was looking for something quick & easy to make, and decided to give “pigs without blankets” a try.
They made for great tasty low carb snacks!!
This is actually what I had for dinner. It was super easy of course. I used lil smokies, as you can see in the pictures, and cut colby/jack cheese into small sticks. I used aluminum foil on the baking sheet, for easy cleanup, and I smeared butter on the foil first – to make sure they didn’t stick and were easy to lift after cooked:
This is a great way to make “cheese chips” too, which also make fun & tasty low carb snacks!
You can see an example of a “cheese chip” in the picture below at the bottom left:
I prefer them cooked a little more crisp, but that only takes a few more minutes in the oven. I threw all this on the baking sheet, tossed it in the over at about 400 degrees, and just cooked it until done to suit me. Dinner in minutes! I added a serving of Cottage Cheese on the side just to balance out the salty/greasy food – which made for a great plate to sit down and enjoy a movie last night. 😉
Look good! I will try those
They were delicious. 😀 I have been playing around with the “cheese chips” more too. Will post on that soon. Lots of ideas for those!!

Try making cheese chips in the microwave and cool them on a paper towel. They’ll be light and crispy… Great for dipping salsa!
can we get a carb count on them?
What is the carb count?
The carb count will depend on your ingredients – simply look on your cheese and sausages packages. 🙂
oh my…..looks delicious…love lil smokies. I was surprised the carbs in cottage cheese, when I was reading a carb chart today.
Hi Barbara 🙂 I only use Daisy Brand cottage cheese. It has the fewest ingredients of any I’ve found on the shelf! It is 4 carbs per serving, which isn’t bad at all!
What temp please?
Hi Sharon 🙂 I bake these at 350 or 375, that’s what I bake most things at. I’m assuming that’s the right temp to use, lol – I’m not real kitchen savvy. 😉
