The last three nights in a row I’ve gone out for dinner, well – if you include the take out the first night, lol. This is one of the things people struggle with most on a low carb diet, so I thought I’d share some simple & delicious low carb restaurant options.
For take out that first night I had an order of Applebee’s Classic Bone-in Mild Wings.
They’re 6 net carbs for a whole order, but I always blot off as much of the sauce as I can. It’s a nice greasy treat, which I like with string cheese and diet coke… and a good Netflix movie. 😀
Last night I had my old standby, which you can find on just about any menu: a grilled chicken salad. I always order it without croutons and use very little dressing. Even better is a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad if you find one on the menu. Again, sans croutons!
“When out and in doubt, stick to meat & greens.” – That’s my rule of thumb. 😉
I skipped breakfast this morning (I know, I know! Bad!) so I had a big plate of FOUR scrambled eggs with a few strawberries on the side for lunch:
Then tonight my daughter and I went out to dinner. There’s a new sushi & hibachi grill that just opened up here in town, and she was anxious to try it. I wasn’t so sure about my willpower, lol – I’m a total sucker for sushi! 😛
I did good though. I ordered the grilled salmon with double vegetables – in place of the fried rice. And I had them replace the carrots with mushrooms:
That picture isn’t so great, but it tasted absolutely fabulous! 😀
Ideally you would request they leave off the sauce, whatever that sauce is, because it no doubt has carbs in it. That said, the only carbs I’d had all day were two small strawberries sliced in half. And the day before, the couple tablespoons of dressing on my salad.
I’d hit full on ketosis again, and I was feeling crabby and edgy and restless (as in: tossing & turning half the night). So I figured that bit of sauce wouldn’t hurt. And honestly, I felt tons better after dinner. But yes, ideally you would request anything from the hibachi grill without sauce – or with soy sauce only instead.
