New Peanut Butter & Jelly Quest Bar: A Winner!

I mentioned the brand new Peanut Butter & Jelly Quest Bar in my last post. This new flavor just came out a couple weeks ago, on September 23rd.

In my last order I decided to try the new PB&J flavor, and also the Peanut Butter Supreme bar – and of course ordered my favorite too (Mixed Berry Bliss).

As you know, I’m a big fan of the Quest Bars – but picky about my flavors. The Peanut Butter Supreme was not my favorite. Not bad, just not addictive like the Mixed Berry Bliss or Apple Pie flavors.

Given my “meh” response to the popular Peanut Butter Supreme flavor, I wasn’t really sure how much I would like the new Peanut Butter & Jelly.

I have to say, it totally surprised me! It was a better texture and full of flavor, similar to the Mixed Berry Bliss I like so much. It immediately made it into my Top 3 list of favorites. 😉 I love, love, love it!!

I was talking to a lady at the Food Blog Forum Seminar over the weekend, who saw me pull a Quest Bar out of my bag and asked me what I thought of them. She had only tried the Peanut Butter Supreme flavor, and wasn’t overly impressed with it. But when she smelled my Mixed Berry Bliss bar (those things smell SO good!) she agreed it was definitely better – just by smell alone.

I didn’t really care for the Chocolate Brownie bar either (it’s just too rich, or something – but actually good if you microwave it for 10-15 seconds)… but I know we all have our favorites.

Free Shipping Promo I’m thinking about enrolling in their Monthly Plan to automatically get my favorite bars shipped to me every month. That will save me from running out and having to make sure I remember to order more in time. I like these SO much, and they’ve become a regular in my low carb diet – especially when I’m traveling or on the go!

I’m going to hold off while I try a few new flavors, though – because I think you have to set your flavors & quantities (and I’m not sure if you can edit that or not? I’ll have to ask…), and I still have a few flavors I want to try. Like this new one:

Quest now has a brand new All Natural line (without sucralose, which will make Traci K. very happy!). They’ve just released the first flavor: Cinnamon Roll! Looks delicious, and I absolutely MUST try:

Jumping up and down in excitement and running over to buy some now!! Yahoo!!

Another note: apparently you can subtract sugar alcohols (along with the fiber) from the total carbs listed. Have you found that same info regarding sugar alcohols Lynn?

I just checked out their website because I wanted to try their bars, but unfortunately they don’t ship internationally :-/

Sugar alcohols are a grey area in low-carb. I am not aware of *any* clinical studies that actually establish how sugar alcohols affect persons who are overweight (usually due to metabolic damage caused by wheat, fructose, alcohol, and sugar). I have seen reports from various low-carbers that sugar alcohols will cause a stall in weight loss, and that they will elevate blood sugar in diabetics.

I *do* now one definite effect sugar alcohols have on me. If I eat more than a fairly small amount, I dare not get too far from a bathroom for the next several hours.

They do affect everyone differently. I haven’t had a problem with them – outside of making my tummy hurt if I eat too many of them (which I know better than to do). And honestly, it’s hard to eat more than one or two mini sized sugar free candy bars – a little bit does the trick for me! 🙂

As for how they metabolize etc, I haven’t had any trouble with weight loss and have been eating sugar alcohols from the beginning. Of course, I don’t have diabetes and wasn’t *extremely* overweight. I started out wanting to lose 20 pounds, and have already lost more than that.

Still, it’s good to keep it to a minimum. But for me, doing without sweets, or sweetener in my coffee, would feel like “punishment” – which would doom me on any diet.

It seems I misunderstood the button in their right sidebar saying shipping to Canada, Australia and UK 14.95$ for 6 box or more. I assumed that meant they don’t ship internationally.

Is the coupon code only for US people because when I try to enter it it says it is not valid.
