I get it. Beer for breakfast and chocolate for dinner, or the other way around I think, is “not a healthy way to live.” Duh.
But at least it was sugar free chocolate and low carb beer. 🙂
My last food diary deserved some explanation obviously, and I apologize for not doing that IN the post.
In all honesty I was trying to keep my personal life (and what’s really going on with me) a little… private. That’s all. But for those of you interested, I explained the reasons behind each meal choice in more detail here.
I’ve never claimed to be organic, a clean eater, a food snob, or perfect. I actually embrace my imperfections. Some of my weirdest quirks are my strongest traits, lol.
I’m not perfect, I don’t eat perfect, and my life is FAR from perfect.
I keep this food diary as a means of helping other imperfect (REAL) people survive daily life as a low carber in a sometimes harsh always carb-filled world.
Sure I eat crap sometimes, even if it is low carb.
I’ve even been known to eat an Atkins bar (and 😯 I did not die from it!). Other times I eat super clean and super healthy. That’s life. But you should have seen how I ate before I went low carb, lol – NOT healthy, by any standards. 😛
I’m healthier and leaner and stronger now than I’ve ever been in my adult life, at almost 44 years old. This photo was taken earlier this month for example, in size 8 jeans, on a 7+ mile strenuous hike:
I’m really tired of being judged. I don’t mean that rude toward the comments on the post where I explained my meal choices, because they were right.
I don’t always eat perfect, I just do my best given the situation or the day, and I do stay on track – regardless of the location, circumstances, or the fact that I’m falling apart at the seams.
I also don’t recommend anyone else eat badly, or drink 5 beers in one night for that matter – unless you’re out dancing with a girl friend and just need to blow off some steam, in which case I say: go for it! 😛
I love 🙄 the ridiculous number of negative comments I got for eating cream cheese & peanut butter off a hotel breakfast buffet a couple weeks ago, when my hotel was sandwiched between a Dunkin Donuts and a Krispy Kreme. Seriously.
I would love to be a fly on the wall for anyone that could clearly see the flashing “HOT NOW” neon sign out the window – and see if they would choose as well as I did. 😛
Normally this kinda stuff doesn’t phase me at all. I just laugh it off and keep right on going. But lately it’s coming from every angle, and frankly – I’ve had enough!
In case you couldn’t tell it in my posture alone in these hiking photos, I’ve been SAD lately. Not depressed, just SAD for legitimate reasons. And yes I was plump in those pictures (thanks to medications that threw me out of ketosis).
Thank goodness that got worked out and I’m back to “keto lean” again!
The night before that hike, I was asked to LEAVE the little club where I was dancing – because the manager didn’t like my outfit, or the way I was dancing, or both, or something. Wait, that’s not exactly what happened…
He didn’t have the ***** to come to me directly – he went to my date 😯 and said: “you need to control your woman.” Only in the south, ya’ll. 🙄
I went back there to dance this past weekend (2 weeks later) and some of the things that happened on that dance floor made ME blush. So really, the man was just picking on me that particular night. Which is nothing new.
Lately I cannot say or do ANYthing without catching **** for it for some crazy reason. And I’m just over it. Totally and completely OVER it.
You would truly NOT believe some of the crazy things people have said to me, blamed me for, gotten upset with me over, or picked on me for lately. WTH?!
I am not perfect. I don’t even want to BE perfect. Perfect people are boring. 😛
So… on with my imperfect life, and my imperfect food diary, with yet another shitty day behind me where I very unintentionally hurt or pissed off someone I truly care about, here is what I ate yesterday – which includes absolutely NOTHING green. Also unintentional, because I did buy broccoli to make…
Monday’s Low Carb Meals
Breakfast: 1/2 cup pecans (60 grams) and a mozzarella string cheese.
Lunch: 1/2 cup pecans, 1/4 cup Daisy Brand cottage cheese, 4 small strawberries.
At this point I went to bed without dinner. And it was the second time I’d gone back to bed that day. I got up and still didn’t feel like eating, but I also didn’t feel like explaining I was having a really hard day and falling into old patterns of self-sabotage (overeating, not eating, etc) – so I got back up and ate some leftover chicken. Thank you for holding me accountable, even if you didn’t realize you were!
Dinner: baked chicken coated in Chipotle Lime Mayo and Parmesan, then topped with Mozzarella and Organic Marinara.
Here’s my MyFitnessPal Food Diary for Monday:
Macronutrients: Simple Explanation Of Low Carb Macros
How To Get A Net Carbs Column in MyFitnessPal
Net Carbs: 14
Total Carbs: 27
Calories: 1639
Protein: 88 grams
75% Fat / 22% Protein
Water: 48 ounces
No there is nothing green in my food diary for yesterday. No I did not cook (unless you count microwaving leftover chicken), or even feel like cooking – or even feeling like eating for that matter. But yes it was all “real food” and the marinara was even “organic.” 😛
My goal here is not to be perfect, or make anyone else feel like they have to be perfect – but rather to talk “real life” and how to stick to low carb eating, no matter what, no matter where. And no matter how bad things are going in your life at the moment…
Things are fine, I’m just going through a particularly difficult phase. It will pass, like they all do. So if you’re going through a wonderful phase in your life right now – ENJOY IT to the fullest. Because those pass as well.
How are things going for you?
Leave a comment & let’s talk…

After Gilbert died I tried and tried to stick to low carb, but kept going off track because I didn’t know I could get everything I was cheating with in low carb. Even if its junk, low carb junk keeps me on track. Because of you, and things like the Great Low Carb Bread company, and low carb ice cream, I am finally losing weight again. Thank You for being Real and Honest. I could not do this without you.

Dear Lynn …First off, thanks for being your imperfect self, aren’t we all not so perfect?! I look forward to your posts with great anticipation, you are inspiring and real…and brave. You put yourself out there just as you are, and meet us just where we are. You help us to be less hard on ourselves and give us the boot we need to keep moving forward despite our “less than perfect” food choices. So thanks for being just who you are…struggles and all, and for being real and honest.

Lynn please don’t apologize. I love how u share your life with us and u are so real. Thank you for that. Folks are so quick to judge. Everyone has there on way of doing things. U do what works for you. U have been a blessing to me by looking at your post I have found what work’s foe me.βΊ thanks for all u do. Have a wonderful day. Key the haters hate. Lol keep rocking girl.

Lynn they are failing and need someone to blame, you are succeeding and it pisses them off……ignore……feel better…..tell them to take a hike, literally and figuratively. Would you mind telling Canadian members that Dimpliflier Bakery has great low carb bread only 4 g per slice and 3 g fibre net carbs 1 best toasted. I know that they are not one of your sponsors, but Canada is not as fortunate to have the supply of low carb products
Rachel Ogden says
Lynn – I’ve been following you for a long time. I love your posts and I’ve gotten a lot of great ideas from you. I thank you for sharing your life with us.
Robin says
People annoy me! Especially in the Fitness community! I have always wondered how these same judgmental people could have ever been over weight or unhealthy. How do you go from being 100+ lbs overweight and then snub other people trying to do what works best for them!
I love your hair you way of Low Carbing! I am a working mother with 3 kids and you prove to me that it doesn’t have to be overly commplicated. Following low carb it HARD! There are very few quick choices when you are in a hurry! Just about every convince food has sugar in it! So I appreciate your smart quick choices!
Please continue to do what you are doing! There are a lot of us out here that look forward to your post and meal examples!
I hope your phase of things not going so well passes soon!
Thanks Lynn!

This may sound weird but I cannot stand the taste or smell of leftover microwaved chicken. Lol. Any ideas on how to make it smell or taste better. It doesn’t matter if it came from a restaurant or if I cooked it at home.
jeanb says
Me either! and and I know others who cannot stand heated up chicken! I am glad it works for others tho … would love it myself if I could.
Valarie says
How about not microwaving it? Cut it up or shred it cold and use it to make chicken salad or throw it in a soup, or salad?
Stacey says
Or, if it’s the microwave that you think gives it the smell, put it on a cookie sheet, cover it with a piece of tin foil and heat it in the oven, or better yet, a toaster oven.
Andrea says
Lynn, one of the reasons I follow you is that you keep it real, especially when traveling. I thought the cream cheese peanut butter idea was realistic, and a much better choice than donuts or a bagel, or a waffle. I am totally an emotional eater, and its so, so easy to just grab a pint of ice cream and a spoon! Also, I know everyone is in a different place – but I haven’t seen size 8 jeans in 25+ years. And you were walking around and breathing and everything!!! I think you look great, and I appreciate your ability to be consistent. It’s helping me and my husband plow through. π
Paula says
I sure am sorry for all the negative comments. I love your blog. While I don’t drink or go to clubs, that doesn’t bother me. I take what I want and leave the rest. I love your honesty and I will be praying for you.
Btw- I liked the cream cheese and peanut butter idea. It looked yummy. Lol
Lynn Terry says
I don’t often drink either OR go to clubs lol. I do love to dance though. π It’s rare for me to have a beer unless I’m out with friends dancing, or maybe out on the lake in the summer. But it’s SO nice we have low carb options at least!
I like that: “I take what I want and leave the rest.” – Use what helps you. π Smart!

This is LIFE, People! Some days are up, some days are down…if you are perfect and extremely legalistic in your diet you may be lacking in another part of your life! Do the best that you can! It’s hard work and we have to support each other, not bring each other down.
Lynn, thanks for your inspiration. You have been very successful in your journey, and your honesty and example make us all feel like we can achieve that same success. Thanks for all of your help.
ConnieJo says
You have been an inspiration to me all along my keto journey. And I have been beating myself up lately for not eating green, or feeling like, or taking the time to cook for myself! But I feel great! So, onward! You are great Lynn, and you’re right, this time will pass- be strong, hugs to you!!!!
Michaela says
Dearest Lynn,
my heart goes out to to… I am so sorry for the hard times you have to go through and I promise to keep you in my prayers. Yes, I pray….
Because of you and your example, my life has changed so much. Through you and your daily example I have improved my health tremendously. My bloodwork has come back like that of a 25 year old and not 50. Still have a way to go weight wise, but that will come…
You have kept me on track by example. Yet it is always MY choice what I eat and NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
So anybody holding you accountable or responsible needs to grow up and take on their own responsibility for their life and the choices they make.
God bless you richly! Just keep going, dear!

Lynn, on your worst day you are an amazing inspiration to me and I’m sure many. The fact that you loved everything I mean everything is a testament to your commitment to sharing your journey with us. I hate that some people are just destined to be trolls on the Internet, but those of us who appreciate you Truly rely on ur posts to stay focused.
Every meal is not going to be perfect, but at least you keep it real all of the time and I for one appreciate you. Keep posting for us supporters sitting in the the good seats and let the cheap seats be mad about their own issues.

People are assholes. I deal with the same thing in my group. I’ve quit other low carb groups because of condescending, pompous, know-it-all carb nazis. I have learned one important thing from it … how to breathe deep, exhale, repeat. I try not to let their mental malfunction ruin my day, my mood, my moment, my accomplishments. We live real lives. We are not cardboard cutouts that always have perpetual smiles plastered to our faces. The naysayers will always be there … trying to steal our joy. We must persevere. Thanks for your sacrifices … some … most of us truly appreciate your honesty.

I am sorry you are having a rough time. I enjoy reading your blog because it is real. I think you made good choices. I am sure I would have ended up at Krispy Kreme! I feel like a lot of people in the low carb community seem to be very judgey about everyone elses choices when they should be worrying about their own.
Keep up the good work!

Lynn dear!! you have no reason to apologize!
This is what’s wrong with our selfish, ungrateful, socialists
generation/ society who can say nasty things to you over social media, but not to your face!! I’d block and move on! They have nothing better but to be jealous of you and your awesome realness!! oh the joys of being envied….:) you are wonderful. I just reached my 40s and am in the same prime time of life! low carb and fabulous. I do mess up, don’t eat extremely a lot, but i have been known to eat just cream cheese and just a spoonful of peanut butter . let the naysayers covet!! that’s obviously why they would attack a harmless, kindhearted, beautiful, 40 something who only EVER helps and is transparent in her life for others (which would be extremely difficult and is brave to do!)… keep at it! i love your ideas and real life
Monica says
Hi Lynn,
I SO APPRECIATE your so called imperfections and sharing them with us. You put everything out there for us to see and I bet the people that criticize you would not do that. Who is perfect in this world anything? Who;s standard is that? There is so much judgement in this world and I admire you for rising above the criticism and being true to you. The only approval we need in this work is the approval of ourselves. What other people think of anything we do is none of our business! I love your food diary because it is REAL and Honest! Thank you so much for that! Enjoy your day.
Linda says
Thank you Lynn for keeping it real.
You are the voice for us that can’t articulate what you say so well.
You are my inspiration.

I think you’re great. Life is journey and it’s uniquely yours. Enjoy your journey and don’t worry about those who judge you. It’s not important what they think. I appreciate your honesty and imperfections. I think what you are doing is inspirational and I for one love it!
Lindsay says
Lynn, love you and the posts you put up! It helps to see how you do the daily low carb grind, because it is HARD!
It’s too hard to please everyone as I know too well.
Keep up the good work, you are a huge inspiration to me and to others!

Lynn,
Your biggest contribution to the low-carb community is that you KEEP IT REAL and give hope to all of us who live hectic, imperfect lives. So many FB groups demand perfection and strict adherence to THEIR version of low-carb. While they got me started, I knew theirs was the same mindset that had caused me to fail at Weight Watchers multiple times. I could lose the weight, but I couldn’t be perfect FOREVER and would eventually gain it back. And more.
With your help, I’ve lost 82 lbs and kept it off FOR OVER A YEAR! Do I want to lose more, firm up, etc.? Of course, but the take away is that I’ve kept it off by keeping it real! I β€ your advice on snacks to pack and restaurants to hit for take out. I love to cook, but through this journey I’ve found that I do better staying out of the kitchen!
Food as fuel doesn’t have to be pretty, a low-carb version of an old favorite, etc. We don’t buy gas for our cars based on where Grandma bought hers or other emotional reasons we use to justify why we have to/deserve to/should eat something. We get the gas that’s cheapest and most convenient. Without any of the guilt associated with food choices and eating.
I want to treat my body like my car: fuel it and see how far it will go! I’m done with the emotions involved with eating, thanks to you. Ignore the trolls, and keep dancing!
Lynn Terry says
CONGRATS Jana – 82 pounds off AND keeping it off – is AWESOME! π
Keep dancing, lol – that made me SMILE π π *cheers*
Teri says
Your genuineness is so refreshing. I like how true and honest you have been. It’s amazing that some who have found their way to follow this WOE and you for that matter (for obvious reasons) have forgotten where they came from and how easy it is stumble… that they have turned into the very people that have hurt them in the past. People amaze me! Stay true to yourself… as you said, this too shall pass. You are doing awesome!!!
Carla Ives says
Hiya Lynn. . . . yeah, I’m still reading. π I stopped commenting and eating LCHF because I kept gaining weight but, if you remember, my body is weird due to multiple surgeries. Found nothing else that worked so just adjusted myself back. That being said, I left because I thought it was me, myself and I that failed for not being perfect. Must have been, right? All my life I have been the victim of ridicule and nastiness for NOT being perfect, so. . . .I’m so glad you aren’t, which is what drew me here in the first place.
I went to your FB page and read those comments. SHEESH!!! Keyboards turn absolute cowards into big-mouthed idiots!!! That was some cojones for a public forum! I know you’re tired of letting it roll off. Understood. If you don’t want to answer or comment back, I would remove the naysayers and block them. It’s YOUR piece of FB real estate. If they won’t play nice. . . to quote my dearly departed Da. . . (and excuse me) Fuck them AND the horse they rode in on!!! People on FB think they are just hot shit. And I’m betting most would NEVER say anything like this to your face.
Advice from an old crone? Keep on doing what you’re doing. You have to live your life for you and not everyone else. You give so much great info, hope and YOURSELF, warts and all, to so many. Screw the rest of them. Give them what they deserve. . . . your delete key!!!

Lynn,
Your post over the past 2 years have kept me going, only because you are REAL! Without you I would not be 55 pds down. I look forward to reading your posts and looking at what you have to eat like a real person.
Keep posting, keep dancing and ignore everyone else that makes you sad. We all go thru tough times and yes, we do get through them but without YOU we would not be so happy.

Lynn, I’ve never heard of you or seen anything you’ve written. You just popped up as a recommendation in my Facebook feed. Your hiking photo is what moved me to read. I’m glad I did.

That is exactly WHY I share your website with people who are Busy, on the go, not always having perfect eating conditions, or perfect restuarants to eat it.. Because you share HOW to eat low carb NO MATTER WHAT!! even if it is peanut butter and cream cheese…Thats like a fat bomb,, to hold you over till you get somewhere else! So keep doing what works for you, and your situation, Better to have a ‘junky low carb day’ then a high carb sugar filled throw you into shock kinda day!
Thats my story and im sticking to it!!

The low carb police can pound sand!
I get comments like that on my instagram feed and usually delete them, but they are irritating. Like, if I am eating just a turkey burger with cheese people will comment on the lack of vegetables, even though my previous post was a salad. It’s like c’mon! You can’t win with some of these people. Also, if I dare eat a low carb bread product I will get negative feedback. I’ve been eating low carb for years and years, so I know what I’m doing! @$%!
Sorry, just the fact that people are being nasty to you is sad, because you are always so positive and you eat so realistically. I have gotten so many good ideas from you, like what to order at restaurants, and low carb sausage balls, and spinach burgers. You have lost weight and maintained weight loss for years. You also are very active and brave. I’m proud of you and always look forward to your blog posts and pictures.
Jen says
I love how real you are and that is why I follow you. Nothing shiny to hide the dull, nothing made up to mask the reality. We all have bad and good days. The people who think life can be perfect at all times are not living in reality. I have had many rough moments or even months in life and if people find fault with me for that then that is on them. Not me. I think you do you pretty awesomely! You have so many adventures, you push yourself and you are creative when in a bind. Keep on being you! No excuses, no apologies. β€οΈβ€οΈ
Susan Dunning says
Like others have written, I follow you because you are real. Traveling and trying to maintain low carb eating can be a challenge, especially when you are surrounded by temptation! You enjoy life and inspire us. Having an Atkins bar on standby sure helps me when I’m going to give into an unstoppable craving for chocolate. I also appreciate your sharing personal struggles. I’m sorry you have them, but we all have challenges and you show us how to carry-on in spite of the obstacles in our lives. Some time ago ago I shared my concern about your hiking on your own, hope you know it wasn’t criticism. Since then you have shared how you take precautions, that too is helpful to all of us. Happy travels.

You’re a HUGE part of my days, Lynn, whether you realize it or not. And it’s obvious hundreds, if not thousands, of others feel the way I do. You’re such an inspiration. You aren’t up on a pedestal for us, you’re down in the trenches with us, fighting the same battle we all fight every day. The struggle is real, whether we’re obese, slightly overweight, or at goal. our addictions are always there, just waiting to rear their ugly selves, and we have to be on guard every second of every day. I read today’s blog and followed the link to learn more about what’s going on in your life. I ended up on your FB page, but couldn’t find anything “personal” there. Not trying to be intrusive, and you did offer the info, but I can’t find it. I care about you and your life and feel like a mama bear wanting to protect her cub. How dare people judge you! Are they perfect? Do they have all the answers? Are they putting themselves “out there” to help others? H*** NO! They’re just putting more negativity into the world. Please don’t let jealous, mean-spirited, unhappy jerks bring you down. We love you and so appreciate what you do for us. You are gorgeous and in such great shape…a true inspiration to all of us. By the way, I’ve eaten motel cream cheese and butter when there’s nothing LC available and I’ve eaten LC candy and ice cream in place of meals many times. Hang in there. We love you!
Gina says
Hi Lyn.
I am so sorry you have been going through all of this
Itruly understand your dilemma.
I consider myself to be a nice person as i do not ever intentionally set out to hurt anyone’s feelings as i have often been accused of.
You cannot please everyone all the time or even part ifthe time so do what makes you happy and. Forget the rest….( i wanted to use the other ‘f’ word here cause mean ppl make me very angry. But with all due respect to you, i refrained)
Listen i have been craving your peanut butter and cream cheese mix but did not have the ingredients at hand. Lol.
I think people need to always be kind to others because you never know what demons they’re fighting in their own personal life.
But alas, we are living in an inperfect world.
We are all in this struggle of food addiction. So whoever judges you needs to judge themselves
Even on my worst days on low carb, it is nothing compared to my overeating on junk food fast food, chips candy ice cream , sodas etc.
I never want to go back to that
I do not see how anyone can judge you as the proof is in your incredible transformation in your body. So whatever you are doing is working famously. And that is low carb
I admire and respect your continuous commitment to low carb no matter what. You are such an inspiration to me and so many others who are struggling with their weight.
You have helped so many people more than you can ever imagine. And in the process you are helping yourself……just ignore the ignorance of some people. You will always be criticised in this life no matter what you do. So do what makes you happy and what you know is right. Don’t let people get you down
Gina.

Keep on being not so perfect for all the rest of us in that crowd! We are the ones enjoying life. I really feel sorry for those perfectionists who get off by criticizing someone else’s WOE because it doesn’t fit their idea of what it should be. I love your blog and FB page. You help me make right decisions everyday.
Karen says
Lynn, it breaks my heart to think anyone would criticize you for what you eat. Look at you! Such an inspiration! I adopted the low carb WOE many years ago and lost a lot of weight and kept most of it off. The problem was, I didn’t lose enough weight and struggled to get back on plan. Then I found you and the 90 day challenge. You inspired me to get back to it and I’m back to losing. I am so sorry for your struggles. You are amazing, always remember that!! Hugs β€

I love the “realness” of your blog and the meals you share. They reflect what real life is to me since I am the only one in my house eating HFLC. No way should you be criticized for making the best of situations that we all run into in real life. If anything, I am super impressed with your meticilous tracking, even on an day that is not picture perfect. Thanks for being real and reminding us it isn’t a diet, but rather a lifestyle.

Hey Lynn, sorry your having a tuff time. I appreciate your just being real! Haters gonna hate right? I think some people really don’t realize how critical they sound. If only we could record them and play it back to them maybe reality would hit home! Just putting one foot in front of the other is what counts! I am amazed at how strong you really are and how far you have come in your journey! blessings Thank you for all you do

In this journey, many of us have fell off the wagon or have had difficulties in our woe (food peer pressure if you will from friends, family and associates). I appreciate your honesty, Lynn. It’s easy to ridicule or demonize those who chose to make lifestyle changes, and stumble along the way. Those people who want to hurt other with negativity can stay in their bubble Let’s try to be kind and empathetic in this journey together, and help each other up when we stumble.

Thanks for all you do.

Wow, I can’t believe people are giving you a hard time about your choices. I know you’ve already gotten a million supportive comments, but I just wanted to add that I read your blog BECAUSE you’re “imperfect”. I read it to see how someone exists in the real world where you sometimes have to eat McDonald’s and you sometimes choose to make beer a meal. So, thank you!

Lynn, please don’t be discouraged. Your absolutely the best person I’ve listened to about low carb life. Your the only one who I definitely can relate to. No fancy recipes or rules to follow, just eat low carb. So simple. You opened my eyes that I could do this even if I didn’t feel like eating what all the others said I should. You kept it so simple and showed us that you still lost all excess weight and look and feel great. My hero for sure!!!! Dont change anything, we love ya and need your honesty and simplicity. Thank you for that!

Lynn, my hotel breakfast sister, You ARE the real deal. You walk the walk and showed us how to eat no matter where we are, or how much time we have. We don’t have to eat only grass fed organic snob food, we just have to take responsibility and do our best. But your ideas.. they are everything! And your feelings and revelations are so relatable because they come about because of your vulnerability and hopes and all of your varying and diverse efforts. People who don’t feel or fail are probably not doing as much as you are.. you’re like a messy kid who is into everything, dirtying your hands and messing your face because you aren’t gonna be held down by others’ expectations or rules. Do you know how many of us have pocketed the peanut butters and cream cheese at those hotel free breakfasts?? I sure had to do it when I was out of town for my own mom’s funeral and staying at a hotel. Physically and emotionally depleted, I did not want that to be my excuse for failing myself. I see people on other ketogenic groups forbidding others to eat peanut butter bc peanuts are inflammatory legumes. Or any grain by products are not “allowed”.. how DARE they! And then they tout themselves as the modern day ketogenic marvels so they can push their coaching agendas, and name their cronies as admins so they can also hope to be the next great apostle! Listen, if I didn’t find you and the common sense, self forgiving flexibility, or Hardees or keto krates, I don’t know if I could’ve done this.. or without your patient and unwavering reminders of pecans and “the cereal” and easy foods to pick up on the road or have on hand in the fridge.. using all the restaurant leftovers.. Girl, I would’ve never dreamt up half the stuff that you shared with us! And when you show us your challenges, you talk me into challenging myself too, and confirm that even prettier younger more talented people have problems and issues equal to my own.. a point I hardly ever “got” when I’d see someone who looked so well put together. I get your sadness, yet I don’t perceive you as a sad girl. No, but I do see a reflection of myself in your self evaluation and reflection.. and we are brave and strong and too good to give credence to what anyone thinks or says about our choices, our challenges, or our personal climb to our highest purpose. Gosh I so want to see you stay your course and ignore the naysayers because when YOU do it, so do I. I have sisters I don’t even like as much as I do you π Hang in there girl, you are a force! You are a rock with a heart.

Any time you put yourself out there, people will scrutinize & give criticism, so that is how it is. But, I like so many others have been following you & enjoying your life, including you being human! So keep on low carbing & you are great & such a talented writer!! Thank you!

Wow. Lyn.
Look at all the outpouring of love here. Just ignore all those judgemental comments
We all love you. π

Dear Lyn,
I have never commented on anything before but I feel the need to give you encouragement. I have been reading your blog for over a year and it has helped me lose about 20 pounds and keep it off. I appreciate you putting yourself out there to help anyone who wants to read it. It takes a lot of bravery on your part because people can be so judgmental and really don’t they have better things to do than write mean comments? Anyway, I hope you feel better soon, it sounds like you’ve had a real rough winter. Hang in there and things are bound to improve. Thank you for your blog and I really appreciate all you write.

As you can tell most of us love your imperfect self! There are always those that think they know it all and always have something to say. I too am going through a rough time and instead of following your example of at least sticking low carb, I completely blew it. I think you are an inspiration because what you do is real and imperfect as we all are and you who think you aren’t have another thing coming. Just keep doing you!

I am sending you a big high five for your honesty and grace. I love your blog. Unfortunately there will be critical people every- try buying cheap yarn and posting pics- ha! Naturally, the internet just makes it easier. My husband and I adopted a low carb high fat diet/lifestyle to combat his lyme disease. It has really helped him and as a bonus we are losing weight. We have added intermittent fasting, too. We eat between 1 and 8, with bullet proof coffee in the morning. Are we nuts? Who cares. We feel good. Thank you for keeping it real!

Lynn, I hope that you can now see that there are many people who think you are just perfect, imperfections and all. What a blessing you have been to so many. I don’t know what others were judging you about, it’s your life to live the way you want to live it, and others can live theirs the way they choose. I keep trying to eat right and if I had just a small piece of your determination , I would be on top of the world. It seems that I end every day with “I’ll do better tomorrow ” , but tomorrow never comes. I’m sorry for your sadness, truly I am. I hope that the days ahead will bring you joy and peace. And on a side note, I thought the peanut butter and cream cheese idea was great!! Who wouldn’t?!?!

Btw i enjoy my red wine at least once a week. Yeah and two glasses. So what. I enjoy it. I stay LC all week. I am going to try the no sugar wine but it’s pricey as all heck
I dare someone to judge me for drinking wine. I am not perfect either. We are perfectly imperfect and proud of it. π π

You know what Lynn… F* em! You look fantastic and you have a great heart, You help so many people, and I include myself among the many when you say. “I keep this food diary as a means of helping other imperfect (REAL) people survive daily life as a low carber in a sometimes harsh always carb-filled world.” I’ve said before, you have helped me literally change my life! I’m so grateful and I know so many others are as well.
I don’t know why people act so hateful. I don’t understand why people act like they do and I can’t wrap my mind around what they get from it but don’t listen to their BS. They must feel angry inside. Maybe even with themselves. Their outlet is to take it out on others from behind their computers or through making negative comments to others. Unfortunately, you put yourself out there and you are an easy target. Fortunately, you put yourself out there and you help a lot more people than you piss off. I know it can’t be easy but try not to them control your thinking and keep doing what you do. I appreciate you! <3

I wish anyone who wanted to place judgement towards you would just unfollow your blog/posts/etc and leave you the hell alone. Why on Earth anyone finds that necessary is beyond me. You are doing a great service to so many women who are struggling and you aren’t pretending you’re doing everything perfect (what the hell is perfect anyway) because we aren’t going to be able to do perfect either. We will all struggle. We will all fall sometimes. And that’s real, that happens…we are just trying our damndest to keep our heads happy, our weight controlled and our life together. I am so thankful for you for helping me finally get to where I wanted to be…I have a hell of a lot of work to do on myself still, but you helped me so much and when I have dealt with depression and negative thoughts and times in my life…you’ve been there for me. THANK YOU LYNN. You are a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul and I hope you can sluff off all the crumby people who are making you feel like any less than the amazing person you are. I sure wish I could meet you up for coffee, walks, lunches, anything…you and I have a lot in common I do believe w/ out even knowing everything going on…Have a Happy Thursday and Keto on π You Freakin’ Rock. And btw you look amazing in those dresses you’re wearing lately. Sassy and fabulous!

Love you, Lynn, for being real. I can’t emotionally waste my time on following or trying to live up to perfect standards … I have enough guilt trips and complaints directed at me. I’m so sorry things have been so rough for you. Your bravery to show your REAL life to the world so you can help other people is so amazing. You’ve always inspired me.

You are imperfectly perfect. We all are. It’s easy for some d bag to hide behind their computer screen and comment on someone who is willing to share their life and put themselves out there. What’s not easy is being brave enough to share your life. I thank you for that. 6 months again I was told I probably had diabetes. My bp was high. Was about to be put on meds for it. I took 2 cholesterol meds. I started following your site. It inspired me. I’ve lost 25 pounds since then. BP is normal. Down to one med. And I don’t have diabetes. And I drink low carb beer every weekend and I also eat the chocolate. Last month when I saw my Dr he said don’t stop what you are doing and don’t change a thing. Thank you Lynn! And F**** the haters. You do a lot of good and inspire a lot of folks.

THANK YOU. I have read each and every one of your comments three times now. I apologize for taking so long to respond, but I’ve been processing things – and making major (positive) changes in my life since writing this post.
To clarify, the criticism and negativity originated offline, from people in my everyday life, and just seemed to continue online to the point that it was coming from every direction. π At a time when things were tough as it was, sheesh!
Here’s my follow-up: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/16937/weight-loss-mindset-and-challenges/ I hope the lessons I’m learning and sharing there, and as we go forward, prove as helpful to you as they have to me. π With much love & gratitude… *cheers*
