Join us for the Fall 2016 Low Carb Challenge!
It’s a beautiful stormy morning here in Tennessee. A steady rain is coming down, and I just heard the first roll of thunder. 🙂 I love a good storm!
Reminder: It’s weigh-in day tomorrow if you’re participating in the Low Carb Challenge. 🙂
It’s never to late to join in!
We’ve been discussing calories lately. I noticed my calories were under 1300 the last two days in a row.
I don’t typically watch calories, or even try to keep them low, but that would make 3 lower calorie days for me this week. I can’t say it’s made any difference. My weight is still 139.4 pounds, but I suppose we’ll see what tomorrow’s weigh-in says. 🙂
Here’s what I’ve been eating for the last couple of days, to give you some low carb food ideas and so you can see how I logged them in my MyFitnessPal diaries…
Friday’s Low Carb Meals
I had my favorite healthy low carb breakfast on Friday morning. It’s 1/2 cup pecans, 1/4 cup Daisy brand cottage cheese, 4 small diced strawberries & 17.5 grams of blueberries = 6 net carbs and 85% healthy fat. YUM! 🙂
For lunch I just had a YUP Brands sugar cookie low carb protein bar. The texture reminds me of Quest Bars. What I like about these bars is that they have VERY little sugar alcohol, especially compared to other brands.
You can see the ingredients & nutrition facts here.
My low carb dinner was Mexican take-out: A taco salad with no taco, grilled chicken instead of shredded, avocado instead of guacamole (I was just trying to keep the ingredients simple & whole). It was perfectly delicious. I drizzled a bit of salsa & cheese dip over it… Mmm 🙂
I ended up eating 3 servings of Halo Top low carb ice cream that night – AGAIN. That stuff is dangerous to have in the house. 😛
It totally tanked my carb count for the day too, but dang it’s good! 😛
Here’s My MyFitnessPal Diary for Friday:
Saturday’s Low Carb Meals
Ugh. Yesterday is when I tested the low carb oatmeal. YUCK, lol.
I really just want to forget that whole experience. 😐
For lunch I had the leftover chicken from my Mexican take-out above. I ate pretty much all of it, except about half the grilled chicken – which was soaked in the sauce of cheese & sour cream. 🙂
I had a very simple dinner of 3 eggs scrambled with colby jack cheese in real butter. I was still recovering from the oatmeal incident, and just needed something plain…
Here’s My MyFitnessPal Diary for Saturday:

The other day I realized I was wearing my “fat clothes” around the house, a huge oversized tee and huge cotton shorts. They’re just OLD comfies.
I walked by a mirror and shook my head, then stripped them right off and threw them both straight in the trash.
I have newer (smaller) clothes that actually FIT. I even have older smaller clothes that fit! It’s a bad habit to wear oversized baggy comfortable clothes. The kind you can lose or gain 50 pounds in. 😛 I look better and FEEL better in clothes that fit, and I find that really sparks my motivation.
It’s just too easy to lay around and eat a pint of (low carb) ice cream and skip my workout when I’m wearing my comfies. When I walk by a mirror and LIKE the way I look, I smile and think “I should work my arms & abs today!”
Speaking of, one of my Fabletics orders arrived yesterday. 🙂 I love LOVE their stuff! I have a second order on the way too. I just got the green outfit on the left, and the one on the right is coming next – plus some cute tanks & other stuff! The one in the middle is what I have in my shopping cart for my next order.:)
I’ll have to try on some more of my Fabletics stuff and show it to you when the next package gets here in a few days. I really love the flattering black & white skirt, and ordered a bright orange tank to go with it. That should be cute!
I love wearing things that show off the NEW ME, and make me FEEL like the new me. I shop specials & deals and also use Ebates of course, but it’s a great way to reward yourself for reaching weight loss goals. I used to easily lay down $80 on a sushi binge with a friend, or even $40 on take-out for myself. I was a serious binge eater! Now I save up and order flattering clothes when there are good sales.:)
I guess that gives you an idea just how bad my food problem WAS, lol.
I just realized it’s almost time for our next Keto Krate box. They’ll be shipping the October boxes next week, so that’s TWO fun packages to look forward to. 🙂
That’s my favorite thing under the sun, by the way: something to look forward to. It doesn’t matter if it’s a package, an upcoming event, or my next big outdoor fitness adventure – I just love having something to look forward to!

I think an exercise challenge would be great. I need to work my arms and abs..
I have lost 60 lbs since January and need to really tone my arms. They are really sagging.
Let’s do this challenge:)
Thank you Lynn Terry for always posting inspiring emails and meal ideas.
Lynn Terry says
That gets me excited and motivated, Patti – and gives me something else FUN to look forward to! I really NEED a challenge and the public accountability to get my butt back in gear with my workouts. I was doing SO great for awhile. π π
Congrats on losing 60 pounds this year already, WOW! That’s amazing! For your arms, try the Tricep Dips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Qzsjg_c4Q0 They are so easy to do (anywhere) and I found they worked really fast.
Roni says
I’m up for an exercise challenge. I exercise M-Thurs right now 2 nights at the gym 2 nights at home.
Lynn Terry says
Awesome, Roni! π I’m aiming to do something EVERY day. Even if it’s just tricep dips or abs or arms – if not all three, lol. Even on busy days I can fit in 20 quick tricep dips!!
Kathy says
Yeah raining here today love the rain had the eggs and cheese breakfast myself been running around washing clothes now all 4 loads done ready to dry now. Got a whole chicken in crockpot for dinner. Cannot wait for new keto krate to come in. Did you posted a video on last one??
Lynn Terry says
Ooh chicken sounds good, Kathy – I think I’ll bake some thighs today. π I didn’t do a video on the last one, but I detailed it out here: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/13596/september-keto-krate-review/ I still have lots of fun things to try out of that box!
Here’s my recipe for perfect baked chicken thighs, btw: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/9129/perfect-baked-chicken-thighs/
Penny says
Do the Yup Protein Bars have the after taste or are they dry, like so many Protein bars? I don’t care for Quest bars, because they are dry and have an awful after taste π
Lynn Terry says
Hi Penny! No, these don’t have an after taste. They don’t have as much flavor as other bars, but they don’t have much sugar alcohol at all – which is why. I didn’t find them dry either. It’s been a long time since I’ve had Quest bars, but they used to be my favorite. Unfortunately they stall my weight loss for some reason…

I was reading the back of my Sugar free lollipops and hard candy the other day and was IN SHOCk at how many carbs were in there! It was 20 grams carbs for two lollipops and about 6 carbs per hard candy!!! Is that REAL carbs or alcohol carbs or what? Do we really count all those in our daily MFP? If so…I’m giving’em up. I only had one a week anyhow…but…WOW…the carb count have me heart palpitations! Lol
Lynn Terry says
Hi Sydney π You subtract both Fiber and Sugar Alcohol on sugar free candy. The net carbs should be pretty low on those once you subtract both. π
Sydney says
Oh….THANK YOU JESUS! You just made my day! Thanx Lynn
Karen says
Would love to do an excercize challenge! Need the motiivation to get me going. I can’t get myself in gear without a major PUSH!! At least I’m doing well on the 90 days this time…I had a great time on the short one you did before this one started. Thanks for the help you give us…I love the ‘cereal’ and have used quite a few others you’ve posted. Karen
Lynn Terry says
I’m so glad you’re enjoying some of the simple meal ideas, Karen! π Let’s DO THIS exercise thing. I needed the motivation and push myself. π I finally got out for a good walk yesterday, and I’m going to do a hike tomorrow. Today it’s a home workout. I really MUST get moving again!!
Allison says
“Something to look forward to” is what drives my weight loss and keeps me motivated. My husband and I will set mini goals like-“I’m gonna be under a certain weight by that day” my current goal is to be in the 180s by this time next week (concert next Friday) Wish me luck!!
Lynn Terry says
I love that, Allison. π It’s such a FUN way to stay on track and stay highly motivated! GOOD LUCK!! π
