Below is my Low Carb Food Diary for Day 12 & 13 of the July Low Carb Mini-Challenge so you can see what I ate and how the macros work out. Join in! Even if we’re in the middle of a challenge you can get signed up to stay in the loop. 🙂 It’s free and fun. I’ll be kicking off a NEW challenge on August 1st, so plan to join us!
I had a weird food weekend, from eating too much to not eating enough, and feeling bored with food in general.
I didn’t get my workouts in over the weekend either. 😛
Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I got great exercise last week, stayed on plan & ate healthy, and my weight is holding steady at 141.2 lbs.
I have lots of beautiful low carb foods to enjoy for the next few days though. 🙂
Here’s what I ate over the weekend…
Day 12: Saturday’s Low Carb Meals
I had the same two meals in rotation on Saturday, plus a snack of almonds & string cheese. My breakfast was my usual “low carb cereal” then sausage and eggs for lunch. I had my “cereal” again for dinner, then – because it was an exceptionally long day – I had sausage & eggs again late that night.
Boring? Yes! I was bored with it too. 😛
It was easy though, and I had a long and busy day on Saturday, so I just went with what I had on hand. I ended up at 25 net carbs and over 2400 calories for the day…
Here’s My MyFitnessPal Diary for Saturday:
Day 13: Sunday’s Low Carb Meals
Sunday was the complete opposite: only 15 net carbs and less than 800 calories!
I started the day with my usual “Low Carb Cereal” – but truthfully, after having it twice the day before… I was like, “Blah.” 🙂 lol.
My breakfast was the usual combination of 1/2 cup crushed pecans, 1/4 cup Daisy brand cottage cheese, 4 small diced strawberries and 1/8 cup (17.5 grams) of blueberries. It comes to 6 net carbs and 85% healthy fats.
Somehow I missed lunch. Or it was way late by the time I got out to eat, because I decided to go out to a favorite restaurant while running a few errands. I think it was 4 or 5 o’clock by the time I sat down to eat again.
I went to Gondola Steak House (Greek/Italian) and ordered a Delmonico Ribeye with roasted vegetables. It comes with carrots, but I always bring those home for Slim (my great dane). 🙂
That looks amazingly delicious right?! 🙂
Unfortunately the steak was cooked well done. I had ordered it medium (knowing they always slightly overcook it, and expecting medium-well).
They cooked me another one, which was super nice. But by then I had eaten the fat off the first ribeye (yum! lol) as well as the vegetables. So I put the second steak in a to-go box along with the carrots and broccoli stalks (Slim loves those!).
I was full enough, or satisfied at least, and figured I would eat more later at home.
I also ordered a second meal to-go: smothered chicken w/roasted veggies. So I now have TWO full take-out meals to enjoy today!
I was oddly tired yesterday. By the time I ran all my errands, got home and put everything away, did a few chores etc… I just felt like crawling in bed early. 🙂
I didn’t end up eating again, so my calories fell way short yesterday…
Here’s My MyFitnessPal Diary for Sunday:
Speaking of MyFitnessPal, one of my favorite features is the Quick Tools. You can copy a meal from any other day into today’s Food Diary. I use that often!
If you eat the same meal the same way sometimes (like my Tuna Salad or Low Carb Cereal) you can click “Remember Meal” and then add it easily by going to Add Food > click the Meals Tab – and it will add the “meal” like you entered it before.
They have a Free Recipe Calculator too, so you can put in all the ingredients and the number of servings, and get accurate macros / nutrition facts per serving. That’s the only way to accurately enter more complex recipes or meals you make.

Here’s an update I shared yesterday while I was out to eat:
I was in a weird mood, lol. Just tired I think – and bored with nuts, berries, sausage & eggs. 😛 I struggled with cravings ALL weekend. Not TRUE cravings, because I don’t have those anymore since I’ve eaten so low carb so consistently for so long. It was more of a mental thing.
I’m thinking after this mini-challenge ends I may take a day or two off just to get it out of my system. Of course, I’ve said that before and didn’t do it. And my big “cheat meal” before this challenge was a SALAD 🙄 haha. *sigh*
I’m proud of myself for powering through the weekend.
It’s not like I didn’t have choices. I did. We all do. I just made the decision to ignore the “food thoughts” and stay on track.
I think mixing up my meals and food choices this week is the key, so that’s exactly what I’m going to do. I have my two HUGE boxes of take-out (I swear it’s like 20 pounds of food, lol), plus some other good meals lined up for the week.
That should help!
Ooh – and I just remembered: They’re shipping the August Keto Krate boxes out today!! That will definitely help. 🙂 I have something FUN to look forward to with lots of new low carb foods to try later this week. 🙂 If you haven’t signed up yet, you can do that today and get your box this week too…
How are things going for you?
It’s day 14 today – did you exercise this weekend? What kind of low carb meals are YOU eating? Are you experiencing any challenges or struggles with your goals?
I always look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

You’re kickin’ arse and takin’ names, Lynn! Weird. Yesterday, I ate hardly anything, too. Just wasn’t hungry. MFP yelled at me that I wasn’t eating enough and I should make more entries. UGH But the good news is that I DID have a NSV. We were in Walmart and my husband saw this shirt. He held it up for me. It’s pretty but it’s a cold shoulder top which I don’t wear. Told him, “I’m too old for that. . . . errrr. . . . stuff.” His reply isn’t printable in polite company. π So he grabbed one off the rack and held it up to me, telling me I could return it if I didn’t like it. It was only $10 and he knows I hate dressing rooms. So I took it home. It fits perfectly. Now for the NSV. It’s a size 12-14!!! I don’t think I’ve worn that size since my newborn layette!!! Most of my adult life has been spent between 250 and 350 pounds. So no matter what the scale says tomorrow, this ‘ole crone will be wearing my new shirt and not worrying about it. LOL Meanwhile, thanks, again, for inspiring me and so many others.

That’s awesome, Carla! π I love changing sizes. I do NOT love that most of my clothes no longer fit right though, lol. Recently when ordering a few new things from the sale, I was struggling with which sizes to order. I can’t wait to get the packages and see if any of it fits – lol.
I love the NSV’s. π Those are the best!!
Kudos – your commitment is obviously paying off. π *cheers*

Ooooo girl! You know this is my favorite topic lol. I am usually horrible on the weekends. Out and about, hungry, no LC snacks on hand, grocery shopping with all kinds of temptations. Oh yes, I’m usually quick as hell to just say “well one of this or a small amount of this won’t hurt” lol and boy am I always wrong. It’s not even that I gain weight back. It’s usually the fact that a small slip up will lead to more and more slip ups with more and more regret. But….this weekend I did great!
My food for yesterday was almost the same as saturday except for dinner.
B: coffee, ham and cheese omelet
L: baked chicken wings w/ hot sauce, 3 servings LC Parmesan Bread
D: 2 Oscar Meyer smokies w/mustard (I did not eat dinner sunday)
S: sf iced coffee, 1/4 cup pecan halves
Net carbs were 11. Fat was 75%, protein 20%, carbs 5%

That’s exactly what happens to me if I decide to indulge. I have really struggled with that the last three days too. π I’m holding strong though, and SO glad. Because my new size 8 shorts arrived today, lol.
Glad to hear you did great too! π Your meals sound delicious! And I’m glad I’m not the only one that missed dinner last night, lol. You have me craving iced coffee, btw…

I am finally trying new low carb foods. I finally got my Mexican food fix π
I made two tostadas ( i call them that) i just melted two slices of colby jack cheese in the microwave on parchment paper
after cooling i removed them to a plate they make small tostadas
i went to the hotel buffet for tostada night to get the chorizo cheese lettuce salsa and sour cream to put on my low carb tostadas
WOW was that ever yummy. It really hit the spot
your steak looked so yummy
i had some of the great low carb co. Bread yesterday and toasted i . I accidentally set the smoke alarm of . LOL. I toasted it too long. It is very dry. I think i will try making my own low carb breads. I hear the cloud bread is very light and fluffy.
I did not think i could ever enjoy Mexican food again
This was a real treat for me and i am full…
I cannot wait to hear about your keto snack box this week i found the flackers in the store but i am afraid i will not like them. AT 5.00 A BOX. i wasn’t willing to risk it.

I love low carb mexican! π My favorite is a taco salad – sans taco of course. I usually ask for grilled chicken (vs fajita mix) and grilled shrimp, and avocado slices instead of guac. That keeps it more simple, easier to track with less ingredients. π Your dinner sounds like it was fabulous!!
The low carb bread is definitely more dense than “regular bread.” I prefer the low carb bagels. They are best toasted too though.
