I’ve mentioned Almond Meal several times, as that’s what I use in the low carb bread recipes.
I have not been able to find it at any local grocery stores, including Wal-Mart or Kroger. You might be luckier in your area, but if not you can order Almond Meal online from Netrition.
This is where Mom and I get ours.
(My mother shops online there – and she’s picky! LOL)
They often run one-day sales, so keep an eye out for that.
They also only charge one low shipping fee for your entire order – and they carry other great items, like the Davinci sugar free flavored syrups I like to use in my coffee and other recipes.
I’ve decided to make low carb sausage balls this week with Almond Meal, so keep an eye out for that fun recipe. 😉
Just a quick heads-up, if you’re having a hard time finding Almond Meal locally, you can order it here: Almond Meal.

Is Almond Meal basically very finely-ground almonds or are there other ingredients?
Lynn Terry says
The only ingredient is Blanched Almonds π

Hey Lynn, I LOVE your new TLC website and all the low-carb info, ideas and tips. I especially liked the article a few days ago where you told us your 3 meals for the day – that was a great post.
FYI – Publix carries the almond flour/meal but you won’t find it in the flour section. They DO have a lot of specialty varieties in that area, including the Bob’s Red Mill brand shown above. But the almond product is actually over in the Gluten-Free section. Most employees say if it’s NOT in the flour section then they don’t carry it. But that’s not the case for the ‘Boro’ Publix.
It IS pricey so online may be the best bet. I know you order a lot online but if you run short one day – head to your closest Publix, which may be the ‘Boro for you too. π
Lynn Terry says
Thank you Sherie! I’ll have to do more of those π I don’t have a Publix here, and it’s a two hour round trip for me – so I’ll definitely be ordering online. I dislike shopping just as much as I dislike spending hours in the kitchen LOL.
But if I’m ever there, I’ll keep that in mind and appreciate the heads-up on where to find it!

I noticed on the site, below the product information, they show a section that is titled “Customers Who Purchased This Product Also Purchased”
Under this was a product: NOW Almond Flour, Unblanched
It was over half the price and when I compared the ingredients, there is less carbs on the NOW brand.
Lynn Terry says
My mom had mentioned that to me – that there were other brands & lower carb versions of Almond Meal / Flour out there – but this is the only one I’ve tried so far. And I like it so well that I have just stuck with it. It’s low carb enough to suit me for the few things I make. Once you do the math on a whole batch, individual portions are very low carb.
If you try the other one, I’d be interested to hear what you think of it. I’m not sure what the difference would be in taste, or in how the recipe holds together.
I’m going to make sausage balls with it this weekend. Yum! π
Mom says
I’m going to order the NOW almond meal because I want to try it, but notice that its a 10 ounce bag and the Bob’s is a pound bag.
L.M. says
I did not think to look at the size because I just skimmed through it. I also noticed that one is blanched and the other is unblanched – whatever that means…
Lynn Terry says
I saw that too, and I have no idea either. I just ordered another bag of this one, because I *know* I like it. You’ll be impressed how long a bag lasts, too! π
(I keep mine in the fridge in a ziploc bag)
Mom says
Blanching is the process that removes the brown skin on the almond. I wish I knew the right name for the skin π When you grind the skin up with the almond to make meal, you get a higher fiber/lower carb per serving count. Bob’s has that skin removed. I think the unblanched almond meal is a good product. I have it on the order I’m working on now. One reason I like Netrition is because it let’s me look at labels π
L.M. says
Thanks for explaining that π
Yes, the site is very thorough. In fact their nutrition facts has “Show Net Carbs” highled in blue and when you click on it, it does the math. Not that the math is hard or anything….lol
Lynn Terry says
I love that too – I use that feature all the time. It’s a great site with the nutrition facts, all the products to choose from, and the one low shipping price. I ordered a number of items this morning and the shipping was only $4.95 for everything. Nice!

Kroger has it here in Indianapolis. 1lb. bags. Sometimes it is on sale for $6/bag which is a great deal. I also buy unsweetened coconut flakes there & they have the best price Ive ever found on coconut oil. Ask for it. It is definitely in their distribution pipe.
