Yesterday I mentioned I’m down to 145.4 pounds which my lowest weight in at least 13 years. I also shared some current weight loss photos. So many people have asked me “what is your goal weight?” The truth is, I thought this was it – around 145…
In the last 10-20 pounds (lol, it’s funny talk in pounds instead of time!) I started realizing that what was under all of my weight… was not the same as it was 13 years ago before I gained all that weight.
The more weight I lost, the more I saw how out of shape I had become.
So instead of just losing weight, I started focusing on losing fat and gaining muscle. That’s when I got the Full Body Composition Scale.
As for my goal weight – I have no idea. I’m feeling leaner, thinner and stronger but I’m still flabby and jiggly in lots of spots. All the usual places: upper thighs, butt, hips, belly. Plus there’s batwings and “armpit tits” and other such things. 😛
I’ll continue eating low carb for health and to maintain my weight, and for now: to burn off the rest of my body fat. But my main focus right now is fitness, and gaining muscle weight. It’ll be interesting to see how that does play out on the scale, and what the actual number will be…
Here is my Low Carb Food Diary for Day 58 of the “Get Lean For Summer!” 90 Day Low Carb Challenge. It’s NEVER too late to join if you haven’t already!
Day 58: Tuesday’s Low Carb Meals
I started my day with coffee and my favorite low carb breakfast. It’s 1/2 cup crushed pecans, 1/4 cup Daisy brand cottage cheese and 4 small diced strawberries – all stirred together like cereal. It’s 5 net carbs and 85% healthy fats.
It was a gorgeous (sunny & HOT) day in Tennessee, so I wrapped up my work and chores and hit the river with Joe for an afternoon kayaking adventure! 🙂
We packed plenty of water, and I grabbed some almonds and string cheese to snack on, knowing we’d be on the water a good 3-4 hours.
I didn’t snack much on the river, but I ate the rest of the almonds and the 2nd mozzarella string cheese when I got home. I was exhausted and famished, and thought I would just crash… but then I got hungry again.
I was too wiped out to even think about dinner, lol. I just grabbed another cheese stick and a spoonful of peanut butter. 😛
And then… Joe brought me a hot cup of chili from Wendy’s. 🙂 That was very thoughtful. He knew I was wiped out from the day. Just wait until you see what all we got into!! haha – wowsa. 🙂
He’s very supportive of my healthy goals (and my “quirky eating” lol) and is obviously getting me figured out. I tend to be a creature of habit, getting the same things from the same places a lot. Mostly because it’s easy and requires less thinking! So he brought me one of my favorites…
A small chili from Wendy’s is 15 net carbs. That’s high for me, but it’s a nice treat sometimes. I was too tired to eat it all, so I had about 1/3 of it and put the rest in the fridge to enjoy today.
I had another string cheese later last night too. Those things are addictive 🙂 lol. They’re also very convenient to pack along when you’re on the go, which is nice.
Here’s My MyFitnessPal Diary for Tuesday:

I got some SERIOUS upper body and core exercise yesterday!
In addition to kayaking I did three different strenuous climbs, two jumps and a faceplant. 🙂 haha!
My adventures are starting to pay off. I feel it, but I notice it most in the photos. I still have a long way to go with toning, especially midsection and upper body, which is why I’m focused so much on “exercise adventures” lately. Plus they’re fun. 🙂
Yesterday was the first time I’ve ever been kayaking, and it was GREAT exercise. I really loved the way it worked my arms and shoulders, and even my core. That felt GOOD. And so did the hot sunshine and cool water. 🙂
I have some really fun pictures & video of today’s river adventures to share with you, so stay tuned for those! 😉 Meanwhile I need to start packing, because next up is the beach. It’s my Annual Low Carb Road Trip and this time I’m taking my daughter and her best friend. It should make for a FUN weekend!
How is your week going so far?
I look forward to hearing from you…

Love reading about all your adventures!!
If you have access to boot camp sessions, or any HIIT(High Intensity Interval Training), there is nothing like it for building muscle and changing your body composition. I’ve been doing boot camp for over 3 years and the body change is remarkable.
Can’t wait to see more kayaking photos!
Thank you, Lori! π I’ll definitely check that out. Sounds right up my alley right now!! Or maybe this winter… because I’m having entirely too much fun with “outdoor adventure fitness” right now, and working so many different muscle groups! π
Lynn,
I tried your pecan, cottage cheese and strawberry breakfast the other day. It was very yummy! Thanks for the recipe.
Cheers,
Ros
So glad you enjoyed it, Ros! Everyone that tries it LOVES it. π It’s definitely my favorite – for flavor, crunch/sweet AND because it’s easy and doesn’t require cooking, lol… *cheers*
Hi Lynn, let’s see, I tried the chicken club sandwich from Hardies and it was great. I am visiting my daughter tomorrow and told her I was bringing us both one for lunch. Low carb style. Plus, I love you calling your beach trip your Low Carb Road Trip. I am taking my granddaughter with me to New Orleans this time, and I am going to refer to it as my Low Carb….
Maybe that will keep me on track better this time. She does good eating what I do or less
So between the name and her I hope to lose a lb! Safe travels to the beach!
Thank you, Julie – safe travels to you as well! π I always enjoy my Low Carb Road Trips… because it’s like a “food adventure”. I love all the great low carb options along the way and in different areas. π
I lost 3/4 lb. This week. It’s been a crazy busy week. I have been active….staying on my liw carb plan-still. I am so amazed that i am staying with this so long 9.5 lost so far on this challenge. I am losing slow but that is probably because i have already lost 150 pounds so it is bound to slow down once i am getting closer to my goal weight
thank you Lyn……you and your blogs are really heping me DO this. π
I’m so glad to hear that, Gigi – and kudos for your commitment AND your weight loss! We’ve lost close to the same amount of weight this go round. I feel like just over a pound a week is good consistent weight loss – and a healthy rate!
Like you I am amazed – and really proud of myself – for sticking to it and staying committed! It feels great doesn’t it?! π
