I had kind of a crap day yesterday. You know how sometimes you’re having a fine day, then something comes up and blows it all to h#ll? Yeah, that – plus a headache.
Then I realized I hadn’t really experienced keto flu since my off plan day last week… and that pretty much explained that, lol. Extreme irritability is one of my common symptoms, along with the headaches. 😛
Funny, it usually hits me on Day 3 – and it usually hits me MUCH harder.
That aside, it was a fine day. I even got in a nice walk with Slim (my great dane) and had a great food day too.
Here is my Low Carb Food Diary for Day 44 of the “Get Lean For Summer!” 90 Day Low Carb Challenge. It’s not too late to join us if you haven’t already!
Day 44: Tuesday’s Low Carb Meals
I had my favorite low carb breakfast: 1/2 cup pecan pieces, 1/4 cup Daisy brand cottage cheese, and 4 small diced strawberries. I stir it all together into “low carb cereal”. It has great macros: 5 net carbs and 85% healthy fats.
I had a quick snack later in the morning, just a slice of colby jack cheese off the block (.60 ounces). Pardon my PJ’s 😀 lol…
For lunch I grabbed a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad (“no croutons, please!”) from Applebee’s Carside-to-Go while I was out running errands. I definitely prefer the salmon, but decided to try something different – mix things up a little. 😛
I ate about half of it, then finished the other half for dinner – with 1/4 cup pecan pieces added to it. That’s a favorite – I love pecans in Caesar Salad!
That’s me on my back deck, which is my favorite “room” in the house. 🙂
Here’s My MyFitnessPal Diary for Tuesday:

Slim and I had a quick evening walk with a good pace – good enough to work up a nice sweat! Here’s a photo of us, in the reflection of a window on our Downtown walk:
He had a hard time keeping up after our big trek the day before. Plus it was a lot warmer yesterday. Poor guy! (lol) At least we got a good little walk in. I so enjoy our walks together. 🙂
I’ll probably stay in today. I have lots of work to catch up on. I also have plenty of fun low carb foods I could “cook” today, so I may experiment in the kitchen a little!
Oh, and I was down about half a pound this morning: 147.6 pounds. I was 150.2 pounds on Friday and Saturday, so my weight is inching down a little at a time this week, which is nice!
What about you, how is your week going?
I look forward to hearing from you!

Hey there
I am allergic to almonds, pecan, etc (nut family) so what would be a great protein snack besides cheese & meat
I love your postings and it helps me come up with different snacks. I have lost over 35 pounds but I have gotten off the low carb path and started to gain again. I felt better and had more energy when I followed the plan plus I have low blood sugar so that helped keep that level too. So I am back on the right path π and this weight will come off and I am going to start feeling better again. Thank you for all you do

I feel best eating a healthy low carb diet too. π I always regret it when I get off track! Staying on plan 44 straight days (minus my one day) has REALLY made a difference. π
There are tons of foods to enjoy that are low carb. My advice is to go over this list and pick things you like: http://www.atkins.com/how-it-works/atkins-20/phase-1/low-carb-foods then read labels to add things to that list, and just experiment as you go to expand your options.

Well I weighed myself this morning just curious to see if the scale was moving back down and ….it is!!! Woohoo. I’ve lost 2.2 pounds since monday. I’m super excited to see the scales moving back down. I’m really excited about how my progress will be at the end of this challenge.
My meals yesterday were pretty simple (which is hoe I’m going to keep it). I made tacos last night and made taco shells out of cheese. The last time I made these we used shredded cheddar, this time I used Sliced Provolone and sliced pepper jack. I chose these instead because they are zero carb cheeses. My husband and I have noticed that most white cheeses (mozzarella, Provolone, pepper jack, muenster, swiss) are zero carbs so we try to stick with these if possible. These cheese shells are yummy and replace that crunchy texture I miss from regular taco shells. They’re a great replacement.
My meals yesterday were:
B: bpc (I meant to go without it but it’s a habit and I forgot lol), 2 boiled eggs, 2 pieces bacon
L: grilled chicken breast, 1/2 c green beans
D: 2 LC tacos
I drank 40oz of water, my net carbs were 8 and I had 79% fat.

Congrats on the weight loss! π I love how you keep your meals SO low carb. My days would be very low too if I didn’t use the sugar free coffee creamer. lol – I aim to kick that one of these days. π
How many pounds to your goal weight now??
Justine says
Thanks!! I really try hard to eat the lowest possible amount of carbs I can. Actually I get kinda crazy about it lol. I am using a hwc that has 1 carb per serving (since that’s all my store had) and if I could use my old brand my carb count would be even lower. I honestly try to eat foods with very little (less than 2) to zero carbs per serving. So far it’s worked. Lol, but my husband thinks I’m a crazy women for it sometimes.
As of now I have 16 pounds until my 1st goal weight. Which will put me at 210. I was a few pounds lighter right before the birth of my second child…3 years ago. After getting there I have a second goal weight which is 180….now that I haven’t been since highschool…15 years ago. After that I’ll see how much more if any I need/want to lose. That would give me a total of 60 pounds lost from my start weight to my 2nd goal weight. Ahhhhh. Lol that’s exciting to hear and would be even more exciting to see.
Lynn Terry says
That IS exciting! And 16 pounds is VERY achievable. Especially at the rate you’re going, and how motivated you are to get there. π
I have no idea what my number is. I have finally gotten comfortable in the 140’s… and am starting to feel “fat” here now. haha. The head space is such a weird thing! I have TONS of toning to do, so I’m anxious to see how that plays out in numbers in the end…
Justine says
I think 16 pounds is very achievable as well. If I could lose about 3 pounds every week for the remainder of the challenge I should be good. It doesn’t sound hard but we all know how hard it truly is, especially during stalls. I’m optimistic though βΊ
I really don’t have a number either I’m just shooting for a goal I haven’t reached in a very very long time. You’re looking great in the 140s so anymore lost will make you look and I’m sure feel even better. Good luck.
Lynn Terry says
I agree, some weeks are grueling lol. I’m happy with my loss so far, and I’ll be happy with however it ends – considering I’ll be continuing on especially. π
Thank you. I FEEL great!! I really want to focus hard on my toning & exercise goals though, as I’m still very “squishy” lol. Jiggling in all the wrong places. π haha

Please let us know what you end up cooking! I know you are like me and like things simple. I’m down to 154.4 from 164 but it’s taken forever, but still thankful to be moving down on the scale and not up. Finally getting some sunshine in Illinois to help with getting out more and being more motivated. Thanks for keeping us honest Lynn!!!

Lynn Terry says
That’s awesome, Maribeth! π It’s true what you said too. Because for me… if I’m not losing, I am gaining. π haha.
I had to laugh about cooking. I did say that. I have tons of cool stuff to make here today (I’ll have to do that and share WHY!!) – and I ended up making meat & cheese rollups just now for a quick lunch. Ha!
Maybe I’ll get adventurous in the kitchen later today, after a nap. Which feels so necessary on this dreary drizzly day down here in TN. π

I have a question about the cottage cheese. I had a 1/2 cup serving today and when I tried to look it up in MFP using your entry as a guide, I couldn’t find one for a half cup of Daisy Brand with 55 calories and 2 carbs. All the full fat entries had 110 calories and 4 carbs (0 fiber). What am I missing?
Dental surgery went well. I’m still numbed so the night could be hairy when the numbness wears off, but for now I’m enjoying chicken broth and cottage cheese mixed with sugar free strawberry jam.
Lynn Terry says
Hi Betsy,
I use a 1/4 cup serving – half a serving. So mine is “.5” (half) – that’s why. π
Glad to hear the surgery went well! Take care of you!
