If you’ve been following along on my Facebook Page, then you already know I have committed to working out every single day this month (February 2012). My goal is to create the habit, more so than to achieve any specific results during this single month.
Creating good habits is just as hard as breaking old habits. And exercise is just one of those things I’ve had a hard time making the time for, or committing to consistently. But I know firsthand you gotta put in the work if you want the results. 😉
After losing right around 25 pounds eating low carb, I discovered that my 38 year old body is not the same as my 30 year old pre-weight body was. Shocker, right? 😛 That’s what I get for sitting around eating pasta for a few years. LOL. I’m excited, though. Just having the weight off feels GREAT, even if I do have 10-20 pounds to go, and I am really looking forward to toning back up.
Right after I made that decision, and shared it publicly, I got an email about the Quaker Heart Health Challenge going on this month. Perfect timing! I decided to join in, sign up, and check it out…
In addition to $750 up for grabs, they have a really cool system where you can log your workouts and join other groups that are participating in the challenge. It’s great for personal accountability! I logged my workout for February 1st, and it calculated how many calories I burned based on my weight & activity. Very cool!
Want to hear something funny? When logging your workouts, housework and sex count. 😀 haha
I would love for you to join me in the “Map My FITNESS” Quaker Heart Health Challenge this month. We can work together toward our weight loss goals, keep track of workouts and progress, and share updates.
The key for me is choosing activities I enjoy. I am specifically committing to Zumba and to using my Gazelle, and walking my Dane when weather permits (it IS February, lol). I would really like to work my way up to completing all six of the DVD’s in my Zumba set. So far I have only been able to complete the 20-minute express workout DVD, and have to stop early on the others. And I haven’t even tried the Toning DVD yet! I’m going to mix it up with my Gazelle, which is a much lower impact workout – and can be done while watching a movie, even.
So… are you in? 😉
Joining the Quaker Heart Health Challenge is my first step towards becoming a healthier me. Now I’m curious to know, what motivates you to stay healthy?
