I haven’t shared a weight loss photo update in awhile, so I took a couple of pictures for you last night.
I’m 138.2 pounds this morning, which means I’m up 2 pounds from my lowest weight – just normal fluctuations.
I’m 43 years old, and 5′ 4.5″ tall.
It took me *years* to get this far (ie to get out of my own way, lol). 😛
This is me at a size 8 now (very comfortably!), after losing ~60 pounds eating low carb. I still have a little pudge around the middle and plenty more toning to do…
I lost all of my weight just eating low carb and then I started exercising this year to tone and build muscle strength. I do 20 net carbs max and 70% fat minimum – those are my daily goals, and I tend to hit those most days.
Here’s what I ate yesterday to give you some examples.
I tend to keep it VERY simple…
Wednesday’s Low Carb Meals:
My healthy low carb breakfast was a mix of: 1/2 cup pecans, 1/4 cup Daisy brand cottage cheese, 4 small diced strawberries and 25 grams of Chunky Musli. That stuff is deliciously addictive!
I had a Low Carb grilled chicken & cheese sandwich for lunch, made with Low Carb Everything Bread. It’s only 1 net carb per slice, and the ONLY low carb bread I’ll eat.;)
My breakfast was late, around 11am, so I had a late lunch as well – then I had this snack last night when I had to run out for a bit…
I just threw 60 grams of pecans and a chunk of colby jack cheese in a ziploc bag and ran out the door so I didn’t have to stop anywhere. Easy & filling! 🙂
Here’s My MyFitnessPal Diary for Wednesday:
Macronutrients: Simple Explanation Of Low Carb Macros
How To Get A Net Carbs Column in MyFitnessPal
Calories: 1928
Net Carbs: 20
Total Carbs: 48
Protein: 66 Grams
82% Fat, 14% Protein
Water: 64 ounces
One of the biggest differences I’ve noticed about myself since losing so much weight and starting to tone up… is how I dress.
I used to choose “flowy tops” to cover up the bulge, or swing dresses. Now I wear fitted clothes because they are more flattering to my new figure, whereas loose flowy clothes used to flatter me. Now they just make me look dumpy, lol.
It feels GREAT to be able to wear tanks and sleeveless dresses for a change too! 🙂
I still have a ways to go with the toning, but this has all been SO worth it…
How are things going for you this week?
How are you doing with your low carb meals & macro tracking? Any questions or struggles? I would love to hear how your day went, and what you decided to eat.
Leave a comment & let’s talk. 🙂

Hiya Lynn. . . You look amazingly fantastic!!! We won’t talk about me, but I wanted to comment on that bread you keep talking about. I have tried a few low carb breads and it was like. . . YUCK. But I broke down about 2 weeks ago and ordered through your Netrition link. Got the everything bread. The first time I made a grilled cheese, which I hadn’t had in easily a year, I was seriously in heaven! LOL If I could have kissed you and hugged you at that point, I would have. LOL It’s really good. Now I want to get some of the white bread they make so I can do French Toast. I also got the sugar free syrup and preserves you recommended, along with the pancake mix and some ChocoLite bars, which are amazing, too. So thanks for the tips! I keep reading and following despite what happens with my weight. The doctor can’t find anything to cause all the gains except for all the inner rearrangements from all the surgeries. So I just plod along, hoping it will reverse. YOU, m’dear, give me inspiration.
Lynn Terry says
LOL Carla – you made me smile, haha! π That low carb bread IS delicious, and so much better than any other low carb brand I’ve ever tried. Plus it has solid ingredients. I compared them here: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/5564/low-carb-bagel-ingredients/
I’ve tried other breads that taste like dirt (literally: like licking the back yard, lol) and some that have a weird texture and/or leave a weird film or taste in your mouth. This one is really great!
I hope you and your doc get things figured out. The good thing though is that you’re eating healthy, and NOT gaining weight rapidly – like you would be if you were eating unhealthy. π
Michelle says
You look awesome!!! Thank you for being you, being real, being honest and always inspiring me to work harder.
Lynn Terry says
Thank you, Michelle π That really made my day!

You look great and are an inspiration to me. I finally ordered the everything bread. I ordered the thin and have it with my eggs and bacon every morning. It is delicious. Thanks for all that you do!
Lynn Terry says
That sounds yummy, Julie! Do you make a bacon & egg sandwich with it, or just buttered toast, or how do you enjoy the low carb bread with your breakfast?
I really appreciate your kind words too, thank you. π π *cheers*
Becky says
Bravo Lynn. You look fantastic and so very happy.
You inspire me each day to keep at it even though I have fallen off the wagon. I try to get back on each day.
Funny how you and I are the same height and weight and look totally different. I would have to weigh 125 to look skinny as you.
You rock those jeans.
Lynn Terry says
Thanks, Becky! They are American Eagle jeans – my favorite. They have stretch, but never stretch out on you (they hold their shape) and they are SO comfortable.
It is funny how we all different body types/shapes and how the same weight looks so different on different people. I am long legged and short waisted, and weight really sits heavy around my middle. We all carry it so different!
What is your motivation for getting back on track and staying low carb? What would you most like to achieve??
Jane D says
You look great!!
Lynn Terry says
Thank you, Jane! π π
I FEEL great, even when my weight doesn’t budge for weeks, or only fluctuates slightly, I feel better than I have in years – and it’s so worth it to just stay on track.;)
Barb says
You look great Lynn and are a huge inspiration to me as well. I have gone down the sugar road again for the umpteenth time and the scale shows. I really wish I could figure out how to get out of my own way.
You talking about the way you dress really hits a chord with me. I wear the same few frumpy clothes over and over trying to hide the rolls. It’s sad. I am back on track again today. You haven’t failed until you quit trying, right? Lol
Lynn Terry says
That is exactly right, Barb. I was on/off for years, and really struggled. I kept trying. I finally stopped and just DID it – and stayed consistent no matter what (no matter how I felt, no matter what happened, no matter what the scales said, etc). That’s been the BEST thing I’ve ever done for myself.
I really had to dig deep and deal with all the reasons I kept getting off track. For me that was emotional eating, overcoming very old habits, overcoming “the lies I tell myself” (such as “I deserve a treat” – which was really self sabotage and self punishment in disguise) etc.
Those were the hardest things to deal with, but totally worth it. Losing weight is easy. Changing your habits and your thoughts/mindset is the hard part.
As for the emotional eating, that was a big trigger for me. I finally had to say (repeat over and over): FEEL the void, don’t FILL the void. And I forced myself to find new ways to deal with bad days and hard times.
In the end, my body is not the only thing that is healthier… π
Janie says
Thank you for putting yourself out there to be such an amazing inspiration to all of us. I didn’t know you had lost that much weight…Good job!! I am always in shock at the number of calories you consume. I know..I know…don’t count calories but I have to stay under 1300 daily to get the scales to move even if my macros match yours. The differences for me are that I’m a bit older…in my late 60’s and have completely ruined my metabolism from years of yo-yo dieting…..and then not to mention the insulin resistance. Thanks again Lynn…I love your daily updates!!I Let’s keep on, keeping on!!
Lynn Terry says
Thank you Janie! π It’s funny because a lot of people comment that I don’t eat enough, based on my small portions and lack of snacking between meals. But I definitely get plenty of calories! lol…
I haven’t been losing much weight lately, but my macros are the same as when I was, so I think it’s more because I’m so close to a goal weight at this point – and also the more strenuous exercise I’m doing lately (compared to just walking before).
Here’s to keeping on! π *cheers*
Cindi says
Lynn, you look terrific and SO happy! What a great testament to the LCHF WOE!
Lynn Terry says
Thank you Cindi! The keto / LCHF has been SO good for me in so many ways. The weight loss alone is GREAT, but I love being out of chronic pain, having more energy, and being able to enjoy such an active lifestyle now. π
DJ says
Lynn you look fantastic!!!! I am soooo impressed how well you stick to low carb and never take a break. Major kudos!!!
Couple questions. Doesn’t seem like you eat many veggies. Do you stall with them or just feel better without? Also do you drink alcohol? I love wine and I think being 60 it just stops my weight loss cold!!
Again you are such an inspiration.
Lynn Terry says
Hi DJ π
I go through phases with the veggies. The real issue is that I don’t cook much, so I eat plenty of vegetables when I’m eating out or traveling. Last Sunday night I was out with a girl friend and had broccoli and mixed greens salad for example. Through the week I tend to eat berries – which are also full of good nutrients, antioxidants, etc – and don’t require any cooking, lol.
So it’s not for any other reason really. Sometimes I’ll cook up veggies to have on hand, but lately I’ve been super busy with work or on the go, so I’ve just been eating quick & easy.
Sometimes I will have a drink socially. Last Sunday night while I was out I had one glass of White Zinfandel (1 carb per ounce). I like rum & diet coke (zero carbs). I also like MIchelob Ultra beer which is 2.6 carbs for a 12 ounce bottle.
Lynn Terry says
Oh, and I do eat off plan occasionally. It’s rare anymore, because it takes me a good two weeks to recover π which isn’t worth it. But a few weeks ago (close to a month ago now I think?) I had an off plan meal.
The big difference for me now is that it’s a deliberate decision – a choice. I don’t “cave” anymore, or go on emotional binges. That alone was a big thing to overcome for me, and one of the biggest perks to getting so committed… because it’s forced me to deal with things in different (better!) ways. π
Melissa says
YOWZER…YOWZER.. WOW… Lynn hats off to you. I am so happy for you. I know it’s be a journey and will continue to be a journey but dang your journey is a fabulous inspiration. Great strength of encouragement. I’m a couple years older than you and few inches taller and in my skinniest of days I never looked as good as you do in this picture. You can see all your toning work. All your hikes, beautiful waterfall chases, kayaking, pull-ups, roll outs has definitely paid off for you. Congratulations on this awesome new bod you’re sporting. Thank you for sharing your journey & please continue to share your journey. I love the simplicity of your meals. You are amazing.
Your sammies look amazing, I may have to give it a try, especially for 1 carb.
Congrats to you, what an amazing accomplishment. Embrace & look forward to following you in your journey. Hugs!
Lynn Terry says
Thank you so much, Melissa π π
The journey will definitely continue, as I intend to stay on a healthy ketogenic low carb diet for life. Both to maintain my weight, and also for my health – and to stay out of chronic pain. And of course I still have plenty of toning to do. I aim to be in the best shape of my life!! π
You’ll LOVE the bread. It’s the only brand I’ll eat. I’ve tried so many and most of them were a waste of money (and thrown in the trash). I love the Everything Bread the best: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/bread and the Everything Bagels too. Those are great!
Melisa says
I have a TMI question. How do you combat the constipation that always accompanies eating low carb??
Lynn Terry says
Hi Melisa! I personally have the opposite problem eating low carb, lol – but I know constipation is a common issue. First, make sure you are tracking closely and getting at least 70% fat and no more than 25% protein.
You have to go by ratios or percentages instead of grams because some proteins are also healthy fats. See: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/7006/macronutrients/ for more on that (a very simple explanation).
Magnesium is the main ingredient in most laxatives, and a more natural choice. Always choose real food over medication when you can! Sources for magnesium in low carb foods include: spinach, swiss chard, sunflower seeds, almonds, turnip greens, summer squash, edamame, peanut butter, avocado, salmon, halibut, chicken, beef, broccoli. -source: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/4393/healthy-fats-and-super-foods/
Becky says
I have been trying to stay low carb but my goodness the sugar cravings are back. When I started in June the cravings quickly disappeared but this go around they won’t leave.
My goal is to lose 10-12 lbs since that is the weight I am most comfortable at. Funny cause I weigh 137.2 and 5’4 and I feel terrible. I am shorter in the legs and longer in the torso. All my weigh flushes to my legs and then makes it’s weigh up. Boo
But your post keep me motivated and every day i check into your post to keep me going. Thank you Lynn and congrats on hitting your goal. Such an amazing feeling isn’t
Lynn Terry says
It is, thank you. π I’m not at my goal yet, and honestly don’t know what my goal is. Right now I am working on the last of the body fat, but also working hard on gaining muscle weight and getting in amazing shape – so it will be interesting to see where that settles as a number on the scale.
What could possibly be triggering your sugar cravings? Something you’re eating perhaps? I find sometimes that certain products do that to me, like low carb bars as one example. I would identify that culprit and cut it for a full week to see if that helps. π
Cindy Meade says
I have not heard from you since the fires you had. Are you ok. I think about you often and miss your encouraging emails
Cindi says
I agree with Cindy. Hope all’s okay in TN.
Carla says
I freaked out, too. However, Lynn’s site is down. You can find her on FB as Low Carb Traveler (Lynn). She’s doing her meals and recaps and all there for now.
