I woke up 1.2 pounds lighter this morning. 🙂 I now weigh 151.6 pounds, and oh so close to my goal of getting back into the 140’s. Finally!!
It did take the scales a few days to move again, but at least they didn’t go up!
That brings me to 6.4 pounds lost in 7 days, and 3.4 pounds lost since the current Challenge started on Monday.
Interestingly, that one off-plan meal on Thursday did not kick me out of ketosis. A single meal often won’t, especially if your total day still says well below normal carb limits. A binge meal, or a whole DAY of offf-plan eating certainly will, but I have found a single meal like that typically does not. Or hasn’t for me, anyway.
I didn’t detail the meal I ate at the cookout, but it was: 1 bbq chicken quarter (thigh & leg, with bbq sauce), a serving of baked potato salad and baked beans. I did not go back for seconds (which was tempting lol) and otherwise ate super clean before & after as I recommended in this post.
It’s very easy for me to “binge eat” or to let one meal like that totally derail me for up to 10 days (ack! lol) so I’m really proud of myself for setting limits and sticking to my personal challenge! I think it’s good to find balance, but also to have discipline… to a point where you can ENJOY life but also be your happiest, healthiest self. 🙂
“The Alcohol Stall”
After having a drink (wine, beer, etc) your scales may not move for a few days, but that’s totally normal. My scales dropped this morning finally, by 1.2 pounds, after 3 days of just “sitting still”. It’s because alcohol takes longer to metabolize than food, and your body metabolizes it first – putting everything “on hold”. So don’t worry – or even weigh yourself for a few days – if you have a drink.
Day 6: Saturday’s Low Carb Food Diary
At the beginning of the week I had made up a big batch of veggie fritters, and a batch of pecan fudge bars. I find it easier to throw low carb meals together if I have at least a couple of EASY things on hand to work with throughout the week.
For breakfast on Saturday I heated up the last two Fritters – I just put them in the oven at 400 degrees to crisp them back up – and topped them with 2 eggs fried over-medium. Delicious!
I mentioned in my last post that I went to bed around 8pm on Friday night (lol) so I was up before 3am on Saturday – which made for a LONG day. Almost a 24 hour day, considering I was up late last night. 😛
My second breakfast was my favorite “low carb cereal”. This time I made it with 1/2 cup Daisy Brand cottage cheese, 3 small strawberries and one of my Low Carb Peanut Butter Pecan Bars for a total of 9 net carbs (80% fat).
I stir it all together and it tastes like cereal. 🙂 Yum!!
I had to run to the store for a few staples in the afternoon, so I grabbed a Low Carb Thickburger from Hardee’s for dinner. I order it “no onion, no tomato, no ketchup” and it comes out to zero carbs on their website.
It was messy and delicious… and hit the spot! 🙂
I had A LOT of coffee yesterday (8 mugs) given I was up almost 24 hours, I snacked on a 1.06 ounce block of colby jack cheese before I went to bed, and I drank 6 waters (48 ounces). Here’s how my macros worked out for the day…
My MyFitnessPal Net Carb Food Diary for Saturday:
We had a great discussion about self-sabotage recently. I tend to get close to my goal weight, then withdraw a bit. Fear of success? Or maybe just a fear of reaching my goal, and not knowing what to do next? I don’t know, but I’m ready to blast past it! I am at my “self sabotage” weight now, under 152 pounds and very VERY close to getting back into the 140’s where I feel super comfortable… and this is usually where I have a hit of anxiety.
There are 12 days left in the year, and in the challenge, and I aim to prove to myself that there is nothing scary about stepping out of my (plump) comfort zone. I cannot wait to see how those 140’s feel!! It’s been years. 🙂
I’m exercising daily, but not near as much as I intended to during this challenge, so I’m going to ramp that up this week…
What about you – how are things going on your end??
Best,
Lynn Terry,
aka @LowCarbTraveler
I know what you mean about being close to your goal. When my dad was dying, he lost a lot of weight. After he passed I started losing weight, but when I got to what he weighed when he died, I started gaining it back. I just couldn’t go below. I know that now, so as I go down, I am going to not let that stop me this time.
It’s tough Rebecca – a mental battle. Not something rational, just a number that has meaning to you for some reason. Yours is a BIG reason. I get that. It’s great that you are fully aware of it now, because that has been what broke my resistance too.
I am ready for change though. I’ve been fluctuating around this weight for what feels like *forever*. I’m ready to see what change … feels like. π
Here Here! Let’s do this Lynn!!!
Lynn, I now have high Cholesterol but love my low carb wow. How can I stay on it with low fat too?? I haven’t lost or gained weight in 6 months but would like to lose more weight. I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you
Hi Judy,
How much weight do you need to lose? Any idea why you haven’t lost or gained in 6 months? How are you tracking? I ask to get an idea of your fat/protein ratios.
On a ketogenic low carb diet, without cheating of course, you shouldn’t have any heart or cholesterol issues at all…
How do I set up my fitness pal for net carbs, could you please help have tried and tried
Hi Lynda! Here are the instructions: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/4448/myfitnesspal-hack/ You have to do it online (not on the mobile app). Follow all the instructions – and let me know if you have any trouble with it. π

Dorle
Hi Dorle,
On the fritters? http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/8766/low-carb-fritters-recipe/ It was a small can of tuna, and it was 2 cups of broccoli and cauliflower, so about a cup of each. π
Thank you Lynn,
