Here we are with just two full months left in the year…
How are your 2019 health & weight loss goals going?
Are you where you wanted to be by now?
I’d love to hear what you’ve struggled with most, what you need help with, anything at all you want to share about your experience as a whole (good or bad!) – and of course ANY questions you have. 💕
I’ve decided instead of one long stretch that it would be more FUN to do a series of mini-challenges together through year-end and the holiday season.
Don’t you agree?! 🙂
I’m going to head out of town on a quick road trip and mini getaway (a much needed one! lol)… then over the weekend I’ll put together an outline and email you with those ideas so we can discuss them before kick-off.
Get ready to start with the first Keto Mini Challenge on Monday though, okay?
That’s THIS Monday: November 4th, so stay tuned here for details. 🙂
I’ll be using your answers here, plus discussions happening in our challenge group to come up with the mini-challenges I think will benefit us all the most as we close out the year together – so I really look forward to your feedback!

Personal Update
I’ve been putting in the necessary work to remedy my gut health issues (brought on by a virus & antibiotics) since March – which has been a VERY long and tedious (and not so fun) process that has required SO much patience and discipline.
But it’s working. 🙂
I’m continuing to try new things – and feeling happy, healthy and hopeful! I’m trying two new things since we discussed it last actually, so I’ll fill you in on those as I monitor the effects & results and have more “real data” to share.
Long Term Keto Weight Loss Success
If you’ve been reading along for awhile, you already know that I’m no longer on “a diet”… I’m a lifer. 🙂 I’ve been “eating keto” for almost 9 years now.
In hindsight, dieting was HARD. Just relaxing into a simple low carb lifestyle has been SO much easier. A lesson I wish I had learned MUCH earlier on in my own journey!
These are current photos of me taken just a few weeks ago – on my son’s 28th birthday.
That’s me, feeling keto lean and a little bit sassy. 😎🤸🏼♀️😊
I love what weight loss has done for me, mostly in terms of confidence and a serious sense of accomplishment from overcoming eating disorders (and all the things that made me have those).
Achieving that goal made me feel like I can do ANYTHING that I set my mind to – and I fully believe that I can (now).
It was all so worth it… the hard days, the restarts, dealing with the problems (ugh) instead of trying to fill the void with food (which never worked anyway).
I thought I was just going on a diet to lose weight all those years ago, but it turns out… I really gained a whole new life! ❤
Thank you for being part of my journey, and always being here. I couldn’t have done this without the support and encouragement of our amazing community.
I hope somewhere along the way I’ve inspired or encouraged you too, or at least given you a new creative food idea you enjoyed. 😉 xo

What’s Next For Me?
I’m continuing to make positive healthy changes to improve my gut health, still have some body fat to burn around the middle, and definitely want to build my core strength back up and put in more effort toward building muscle and mobility as I close out my 40’s these next few years.
I’ll be 47 on my next birthday. 😉
I’m not big on going to the gym, so I’m happy to share my simple at-home strength & muscle building exercises with you as we go. I generally just use my own body weight, and it’s all easy things you can do anywhere in short time – which helps. 😉
Those worked out VERY well for me in the past, and got me to a point of being able to do distance hikes & climbs I never thought possible before!

This has been such an odd month for me, what with the season changing – and the dramatic shift in weather here in Tennessee. I talked about that here.
I look forward to hearing what’s going on with you, any questions you have, and what you MOST want to accomplish as we close out the year together… low carb style! 🙂
Best,
Lynn Terry,

I am very discouraged as I have been on Keto for one year and two weeks. I have only lost 25 lbs and most people by now have lost so much more. I have been very strict and no sugar has entered my mouth in that amount of time. I am 65 and donβt get to exercise like I wish I could. What could be wrong or do different? I use MCT oil in two cups of coffee a day. Help!

I am very disappointed in myself. I can’t keep on to my keto diet for more than 2 months and then, snacking starts, because I don’t seem to get full. Also, I overeat almond and walnut. I took some pictures lately and I was surprised I look bigger than intended. I exercise 5 times a week. Please I need help. I am not doing something right on keto. My body is the same after a year.

Thank you for the daily posts of encouragement, tips and tools. I too avoid the βgymβ but love the outdoors. I bicycle 40+ miles per week and slog (slow jog) as I can. Iβm very active, living low carb (havenβt had bread, pasta or potatoes in the house) for over 3 years. i struggle with 4 pounds that cone and go regularly along with a belly roll. Iβm 50; 5β5 and average 136-140 pounds. Wear size 6-8. Just want to tone up my belly and thighs. I have some weights, pull up bar, kayak and paddleboard but canβt seem to get the toned/fit tighter body I want. Any suggestions?

Iβm trying to stay strong, but I seem to be on a plateau trying to get out of the 180βs. Iβve had to stay out of gym for 2 weeks due to a back injury, and trying to stay motivated is becoming more difficult!

I just need a complete fresh start. I went so far off the wagon, I will be starting from scratch on Monday. I am trying to figure out how to make this a lifestyle and stop giving in to the junk.

60 yo this week. Went Net20 Keto first of the year. Lost 30 lbs by May, but have been stuck here ever since. I’ve become a pretty good scratch cook, getting nearly all my ingredients at the farmers market (as my diet coach at the hospital says, “nothing with a barcode”).
I’ve tried several of the prepared (barcoded) low carb products (like Atkins bars, and Tumaro’s wraps) from Amazon, since Spring, and wonder if that’s what plateaued me.
And thank you for turning me on to MyFitnessPal.com ; I’m sure that’s a big part of my success, although the changes with the new iOS are frustrating. Checking your frequent posts is all great motivation. Thank you.

Happy Birthday, David! π
Congrats on your 30 pounds lost earlier this year. Well done! It is possible that some products may stall your weight loss or have other effects. The only real way to know is to test them one at a time, individually.
Try tracking first. If you have a computer or laptop, it may be easier there than on a mobile device. Or try the Carbmanager app and see if you like that one better.
Tracking will help you get a feel for what you might want to change or test, and to identify potential culprits.
With tracking you’ll also be able to see if you’re getting enough protein, which is important for a lot of reasons, and also if you’re getting enough healthy fats to promote fat burning & increase your energy.
But I would say… go back to what you were doing before that obviously worked so well for you. π
Also, how much more weight do you want or need to lose? I ask because the last ~20 pounds is the MOST challenging…
