I know itโs hard to figure out which product to get, which one is the better deal, or whether itโs a decent quality or not.
Letโs take this MCT Oil as just one example (NOT recommended)โฆ
These are pictures someone sent to ask my opinion on it, so Iโll point out what YOU should be looking for if you see something similar in the store when youโre out shopping:
๐ซ 1. Itโs from palm kernel oil (too), not a pure coconut oil source.
Avoid any mct oil that is from palm, or that doesnโt specify itโs sourced ONLY from coconut.
๐ซ 2. Itโs only 80% C8/C10 oil.
That doesnโt add up. Thereโs no telling what the other 20% is ๐ค โ but itโs most likely a combination of C6 (known to cause stomach upset) and C12 (lauric acid โ which would just make it dressed up, overpriced coconut oil).
โก๏ธ Only buy MCT C8/C10 oil (or pure C8 oil, but it just costs more is all).
Do not buy anything that does NOT specify WHICH mctโs it contains, and how much of each.
It should be C8 and C10 only, and 100% of the two combined.
I get the same great results with C8/C10 oil as I do with pure C8 โ and the C8/C10 is cheaper. ๐
โก๏ธ Tip: it says the serving size is 1 TBSP but start with one teaspoon and work your way up gradually.
* Use it first thing in the morning for the best results.
Hereโs where I did the research and comparison charts on all the MCT oil products (oils, powders, softgels, etc) plus my experience with them & thoughts on them: https://www.travelinglowcarb.com/24540/mct-oil/

Pat asked: โWhat is your biggest benefit that you see or feel in the mct oil. I keep hearing about energy levels increasing and boy, do I need that!โ
My reply:
YES, thatโs the thing youโll notice first. Instant energy boost โ because it raises your metabolism, and because itโs instantly burning those calories (and yours). The next thing youโll notice is that itโs a serious appetite suppressant. I use it in my first morning coffee โ and usually donโt get hungry until an early dinner.
But what you may not noticeโฆ is that it also raises your ketone levels, which means you get knocked out of ketosis less easily, and if you do โ back into ketosis more quickly. That has allowed me to increase my range of vegetables, eat a sweet potato for example (esp while Iโm sick) without getting knocked out of ketosis at all.
But you can learn more about ALL the benefits of MCT Oil, what it does and what itโs for, in my post here: MCT Oil vs Coconut Oil if you havenโt read that already.
If you have any questions, leave a comment!
Happy to helpโฆ ๐

Sad to say that the MCT Oil I have been using is the NOW brand! I just restarted Keto last week and just restarted the MCT Oil in my coffee in the AM. After reading your comparison chart, I have ordered the Perfet Keto MCT Oil. Hope the results are better than the NOW MCT Oil!
Great to hear youโre back on keto, Carmen! ๐
If you still have some of the NOW brand oil leftover, you can use that just like you would coconut oil โ to make fat bombs, etc. Itโs not BAD, itโs just not a pure mct oil is all. So you do miss out on the benefits of that, which youโll get with the Perfect Keto brand you ordered. ๐
Thanks, Lynn โ I will use the NOW MCT Oil as a coconut oil in recipes and maybe salad dressing. Can I use it that way and still consume the Perfect Keto MCT Oil in the same day? I usually do 1-2 Tbsp. in my coffee in the AM.
It does feel good to be back on Keto โ and I am losing and not feeling hungry!
That feels AMAZING doesnโt it?!
Iโm sure that would be fine. You want to increase the amount gradually of course so just play around with it. โ
After reading your post on MCT oils, I decided on Kiss My Keto MCT Oil, mostly for the convenience of a pump. I have to honestly say I donโt notice any difference in how I feel. I put 3 pumps into my first coffee of the morning, along with some hwc. I have not felt any of the benefits of which you speak, such as increased energy or appetite suppressing. Of course, to be perfectly honest, Iโm currently not staying 100% keto. Iโm having a very hard time sticking to a keto/LC woe. Although Iโm probably about 95% or more on plan. Would that be why Iโm not feeling the benefits of MCT Oil?
Probably so, Betsyโฆ that would be my guess anyway. I often donโt feel like eating until a late lunch or early dinner using the mct oil (in ketosis). I havenโt honestly tested it OUT of ketosis, as I donโt like to combine that much fat with sugar/carbs.
I bought that for the same reason, love the pump. If I add it to my morning coffee I skip breakfast. Eat a good keto lunch and dinner is usually a light, very light dinner or snack (cottage cheese with a couple blueberries and pecans)
I had gastric bypass and donโt stay full much longer than 3 or 4 hours, but attribute that to bypassing the small intestine. But it does help with the constipation that I get on Keto.
Lynn: I am looking for a little help from you. Can you tell me if RapidFireโข MCT Coconut Oil which I found at GNC and other places is ok? I tried the Perfect Keto, but am not sure I like it so wanted to compare with another brand. Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi Penny ๐ What is it youโre not sure you like about the Perfect Keto mct oil? I ask to see if thereโs some way I can help, since they will all be similar in some ways.
As for the Rapid Fire brand, this one I assume: https://amzn.to/3ce99PC โ No, thatโs not a pure mct oil. Like most of the others, it contains more than just mct C8 & C10 โ which means itโs basically just overpriced coconut oil. ๐
Hi LynnโฆHappy Motherโs Day! I purchased the Perfect Keto MCT Oil Powder and it doesnโt mix well with hot beverages. I didnโt feel it did anything to help me with energy etc. and I actually gained weight when using it. I also think it is too expensive. I am hoping to try the Perfect Keto MCT C8/C10 oil you mentioned above to see what it does for me. Is Perfect Keto the only MCT oil that you use?
Lynn you also mention that you should Only buy MCT C8/C10 oil. Perfect Keto is only C8.
Lynn you mention that you should Only buy MCT C8/C10 oil. Perfect Keto is only C8. What is the difference between the two oils?
Hi Penny ๐ I also use Kiss My Keto. Perfect Keto has discontinued their mct oil, but Kiss My Keto is the ONLY one I know of that comes with a pump (!) and also comes in a glass bottle. This one: Kiss My Keto MCT Oil I donโt really like anything else there though, except their dark chocolate candy bars โ those are great. The pumpkin seed sea salt is my favorite, my daughter loves the hazelnut chocolate bar. My discount code is also LOWCARBTRAVELER there too, btw.
An MCT C8 oil is fine, I usually just choose the MCT C8/C10 oil because the only difference I have personally experienced between the two (two of equal quality, meaning a pure oil)โฆ is the price. ๐
I also did not get the same results using an MCT oil powder โ or any results at all, for that matter. Where with the oil, I experienced immediate results, especially with gut health issues โ that was most noticeable as a quick fix for acid reflux and indigestion for example. But also better energy and WAY less appetite. On days I use it first thing in the morning I often donโt get hungry or feel like eating until around an early dinner.
