Friday was my first full day here at the Hilton Suites Atlanta Perimeter Hotel, so it was a good test to see how well they’re on-site restaurant would suit me for low carb meals.
Their restaurant is Dunwoody Grill, and I was happy to find lots of great (low carb) options on the menu.
I started the day with room service, though they do offer a breakfast buffet – which I think I’ll try tomorrow before I head out.
When I filled out my breakfast card to hang on my door, I just chose one of the main options. I didn’t worry with special ordering or anything, and figured I’d just eat what I wanted off the plate.
Which is exactly what I did – ate the bacon & eggs and enjoyed the coffee, and left the toast & potatoes.
The breakfast buffet would be a better deal of course, especially if you’re really hungry or a big breakfast eater. Then you could eat as much bacon & eggs as you please. But I was aiming for a quiet breakfast and a little reading before I started my day. 😉
Lunch was my first real look at the Dunwoody Grill menu, and I decided on the Cobb Salad. I mentioned yesterday that I am a bit burned out on salads, but this one had grilled chicken on it so I figured it would make for an easy meal:
The chicken, bacon and avocado was fabulous. 😀
The Dunwoody Grill dinner menu had even more options. I decided to have the salmon (I know, go figure right? LOL I’m sure you can tell I really love salmon by now!). It came with a side caesar salad, and the options for sides were: rice, mashed potatoes, baked potato or french fries. Typical.
I asked though, if they had any vegetables and it turns out the vegetable of the day (which appeared nowhere on the menu, that I saw) was squash and zucchini. Yay! So dinner was salmon & vegetables, with a caesar salad on the side.
The salmon was *perfect* and the vegetables were tender and perfectly seasoned (lightly dashed with salt & pepper). It was much more food than it looks in the picture – beautiful portions, and a very filling meal.
I’m looking forward to trying something new on the menu today, as I’ll be here in the hotel all day again today. I know that some people have a hard time sticking to a low carb diet (or ANY diet) when they are away from home… but personally, I find it MUCH easier when I am nowhere near a stocked refrigerator. 😉
