Join us for the Fall 2016 Low Carb Challenge!
Happy Monday! 🙂 We’re kicking off the 7th week of the challenge, and it’s time for the 6 Week Weigh-In.
If you’re participating in the Challenge Facebook Group, use that link to post your weigh-in. Otherwise you can leave a comment here on this post.
I have only lost 1.4 pounds in the last 6 weeks myself 😛 lol. *sigh* That would be 2.4 lbs if you count that I was down an extra pound at one point…
My weight has mostly just been fluctuating slightly. I talked about that in the Low Carb Inspiration & Tips post the other day…
The big positive being that I am NOT gaining. 🙂
I weigh 139.8 pounds this morning, so I’m down .2 pounds from Saturday when I was back up to 140. I mentioned then that my weight loss will be super slow from this point given how close I am to my goal weight (somewhere in the 130’s?) – and that my main focus right now needs to be on toning & muscle gain, not the scales.
I have had two off-plan meals (not days, just meals) in the last six weeks.
Otherwise I’ve been super low carb and super diligent for six full weeks.
Both times were my attempt at a “reset” – meaning I intentionally knocked myself out of ketosis to try to get my body back to losing weight.
That didn’t work. 🙄
It never works for me, lol.
I’m just testing different things since my body seems to be in a “hold” for such a long period. Neither of my off-plan meals were ridiculous, or resulted in binging or overeating – which I was really proud of!
On Saturday for example, I had a 100 carb day. That’s still relatively low carb actually. I had a healthy low carb breakfast and lunch, then the off-plan dinner (thin crust pizza, only 2 slices, plus 3 wings).
I was very intentional and controlled about it, and right back on plan the next day.
The only thing I accomplished is giving myself keto flu to deal with this week. 😛
Next time I will test something different since that hasn’t worked twice in a row. I think after being SO consistently low carb for SO long my body may need a little “shock” or “reset” to burn the rest of this body fat. Next time I’ll try an egg fast, fat fast, or intermittent fasting instead…
By the way, my low carb lunch on Saturday included the “controversial” meat stick by Sweetwood Cattle Co that came in the September Keto Krate. The big concern being that it was a 7 carb product…
I talked to Keto Krate and they said it was a mistake. They have a policy to send low carb foods that are 5 carbs or less, but apparently the Fatty Stick was listed as ONE carb on the Sweetwood website – then later changed. Mystery solved! 🙂
You can read up on the Fatty Stick and see the reviews here. It’s an all natural-nitrite free meat stick. The meat is: Premium USA Grass Fed Beef and Natural Pork (no antibiotics or hormones).
I prefer the Roam Sticks, which are only ONE carb each – and delicious! 🙂
Yesterday I got right back on track and ate super clean – only real foods.
I had scrambled eggs w/colby jack cheese (off the block) cooked in real butter for both breakfast and dinner, and my low carb cereal for lunch (pecans, Daisy brand cottage cheese & berries).
That made for only 15 net carbs yesterday, even with 7 coffees. 🙂
I’m on a mission to lose at least another pound this week! My new Fabletics order should be in this week, all size mediums.:) You can see my order here. Plus I’m traveling at the end of the week… and want to look and FEEL my best!
So that’s my update, my failed “cheat meal tests” (lol), and my goal for the week: to eat super clean, super low carb, survive keto flu (ugh!) and get on the road for my trip looking fabulous. 🙂
How are things going for you?
It’s day 43 and we’re kicking off the 7th week of the challenge. How are you doing with your low carb meals & macro tracking? Any questions or struggles?
I would love to hear your results so far…
Don’t forget to weigh-in, here or in the Challenge Group.

Frustrated. Very! I can’t seem to get the scale to move since week 2. I track everything. 20 net, 70% fat min. Should I decrease calories? Do the egg fast? Im just frustrated. And not sure what I’m doing wrong. Thanks in advance!!
Hi Casey,
It’s normal to experience a hold and/or fluctuations for a week or two after the initial weight loss. That’s your body adjusting to such fast loss the first couple of weeks.
But you’ve been 4 full weeks now with no loss at all? If so, look over your diaries and see if you added or changed anything. If so, go back to what you were doing the first two weeks.
Things to try first, cut out: nuts, cheese, cream cheese, any processed foods or bars/shakes. Go super simple, just meat & greens + healthy fats. Ideally with no more than 3-4 total ingredients per meal or plate.
The 3IMAX strategy has been very effective for breaking stalls! See: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/6064/3-ingredients-rule/
Another thing to try is to increase healthy fats to 80%. Try that for a week and see if it makes a difference.
i just got on the computer and did the ‘keto hack’ for MFP. At the bottom it has 2 different graphs….macros and then grams, so which one do i need to go by? the macros one is the only one i see on the mobile app. so im worried that im not getting the right amounts in if i should be going by the other graph.
You go by the macro ratios, not grams. You want at least 70% fat (minimum) but I often go 80% or higher even – and that’s when I seem to lose the best.
The reason you can’t go by grams is because some proteins are also fats – like salmon, eggs, etc. See: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/7006/macronutrients/ for a simple explanation & illustration on that.
Hi Lynn! Yes, I’m still here. The last few weeks have been disastrous but every Monday I consider it a new beginning. π I finally lost the 12. . . . yes. . . . 12 pounds I gained. I don’t know why. Less than 20 grams of carbs every day, still take my BP meds and water pills. Just my screwy body, I guess. I joined Planet Fitness and now go several times a week while still doing Zumba at home. I still eat your breakfast cereal every morning. Oh, and I took advantage of your Labor Day thingy at Fabletics. I think I ordered one of the tops you have, the black back/white front Constellation tank? I’m amazed I can fit into their clothing at all, so that’s a good thing. And life goes on. Hopefully, this week will bring decent results. I know you’re losing very slowly, but you’re close to your goal. I’m nowhere near mine. I’d be happy with a half-pound a week down, though, instead of going up. That’s still 26 pounds down a year, right? LOL I read every day. Thanks, again, for being such a wonderful inspiration!
It sounds like you’re doing great, Carla! π I do love that black & white patterned tank, it’s so comfortable – great material. Awesome that you’re working out consistently! I so need to get back on track with my workouts. π
I am close to my goal, and not sweating it (ha, no pun intended!). I’m just glad I’m staying healthy and NOT gaining. π You inspired me to get back to my regular workouts. I’ve been really hit or miss with it lately…
I’m frustrated too! I’ve been losing very slowly which I can handle but the last two weeks I’ve gone up two pounds. I’m hitting my macros, working out 4-5 days/week, so no excuse considering I’ve still got 50# to lose. I tried a 4 day fat fast which had worked well in the past, today is day 4 and at least I’ve lost those 2# but that’s it. Grrr. I think I’m going to bump up my carbs a bit this weekend (going to the cabin with friends) with some higher carb veggies and see what happens. At least I’ve managed to talk myself out of that bag of chips I was eyeing! LOL
On a positive note, my hips are slimmer and I’m starting to build up muscle again so I know my workouts are going in the right direction. One step at a time on the journey, right? I’m going to hang in there and hope the scale starts to move again. Thanks for this forum, Lynn! It helps to know I’m not the only one struggling.
What really helps me with the frustration part, is focusing on the fact that I am healthy and NOT gaining weight – which I would, and FAST, if I were not eating so well and so consistently.
You’re feeling and looking slimmer, exercising and eating healthy. So screw the scales. π I know it’s disheartening (I’m there too) but it’s NOT worth throwing it all away and gaining back what we’ve lost. So we’re doing GREAT!
Yes, one day at a time. I think it’s smart to just stay focused on being and living healthy, and letting our bodies adjust and improve at their own speed.
Good morning everyone. My weigh in this morning was good…I stayed the same at 139. I’m with you Lynn at being close to goal and it is SLOW going from here. But that’s okay because I feel great and love this woe!
Feeling GREAT is worth A LOT, no matter what the scales say. π I’m in no rush about it either, and really just want to tone up and stay healthy and let my body get where it’ll go in it’s own time. To be honest, I’m still getting used to the smaller size – and switching around my whole closet just to find things to wear, lol.
My scales aren’t moving consistently fast but I can’t be mad at them, only remind myself to try harder (Even on Football Sundays!) lol. But this morning my brother picked up his dog and told me I look thin. Means the world coming from him, he usually just picks on me. He said he doesn’t think I should be doing low carb though, just eat healthy and in moderation. I told him that hasn’t worked in the past…this is the way I can really control it. I know my guidelines and know that it works if I do it right and why would I stop doing what’s working, slowly but surely! Thin….I liked that π
What a nice compliment, Amy. π That would make my day too! Especially coming from someone close to you – that means the most.
There are lots of fun recipes for game day!
Check out our Pinterest board for that: https://www.pinterest.com/lowcarbtraveler/low-carb-super-bowl-party-snacks/ π
I actually hosted the football party so everything that I made was low carb I didn’t get out of control at all I just had more than I should have of the low carb Treats LOL
LOL that’s easy to do! π I find it helps to track my meals/foods (and portions) before I eat them.
For some reason that really helps me just eat what I intend. Maybe because I don’t feel like getting up to change my food log. haha
I actually did that and yes, it usually works well! I didn’t do awful just higher than I would like! I learned a bit this weekend and can tweak it for there to be even more super low carb options for next time π I LOVE little smokies and I made them with the SF bbq sauce. But 5 of those bad boys are 3 carbs…danget! I might try a different kind of meat w/ the bbq sauce to eliminate more carbies.
I was down 12 now only down 10. Silly that 2 pounds up ticks me off. A new week, new resolve.
You’re still DOWN ten whole pounds. π I know how you feel though, lol – we ALL feel that way. It’s ideal to focus on what we’ve lost, and on NOT gaining it all back. My weight keeps fluctuating up and down a small bit like that, and it motivates me to work at it that much harder. π I know the alternative: gain it back (plus some) and start all over again. No thanks. π I’ve done that before, no fun!
I’m down 6 pounds since August 1st, and 33 pounds since March 1st. I’m ready for this next challenge!
Awesome, Betsy π Way to go!! 33 pounds in 6 months is amazing. I bet you’ve had a complete wardrobe change, hey? π
Well this week I learned I can’t be trusted with Low carb ice cream in the house. LOL Last week I was at 192, my lowest ever since a long time ago. This morning I was up to 195 – YIKES. Also started having headaches and joint pain again. Must have slipped out of Ketosis.
Making some cabbage soup to help my body get rid of the toxins. Would love to see 180s again soon.
Cabbage soup sounds really good, Kathy. π What kind of low carb ice cream did you eat? I found that Arctic Zero threw me out of ketosis – but I ate the whole pint which had 32 grams of sugar. π haha.
Ice cream was the Arctic Zero. It is very hard to only eat one serving (1/4 cup).
My cabbage soup was a big hit. Hubby isn’t into many veggies but if I make a veggie soup he eats a lot. This soup was made with cabbage, zucchini, onions, tomatoes and a small amount of Italian sausage. Salt, Pepper and Garlic powder. All thrown into the crock pot. I am very bad about not measuring ingredients, I just throw in what I have and adjust as needed.
That sounds delicious! π
Next time try Halo Top low carb ice cream. π I love the chocolate and mint chip flavors – the mint is more like peppermint, and delicious!
I have decided to only weigh once a month. I know I am losing inches, can finally fit comfortable into my jeans last week, that I could not get past my thighs last month. The scale only shows that I lost 1 lbs one day gained two the next day – BUT the jeans feel great and my tops are very loose. The scale was getting me down – SO no more. I am just going to keep finding clothes that I could not fit into and keep them as my way of knowing how I am doing. I have a lot of cute clothes that do not fit. Soon they will !!!
That’s smart, Becky. I like to hang them where I can see them as constant motivation. Do you also take body measurements? That’s a great way to track your progress, since you’re obviously losing inches!
Goodbye week 6, Hello week 7!! I’m excited to say after a gain last week I am down -2.2 this week! That brings me down to -10.4 lbs since this challenge started! I even enjoyed a 10+ mile bike ride yesterday and a short hike through the woods! That was some much needed therapy! Hope everyone has a blessed week!
That’s great progress, Jennifer!! And the bike ride and hike sounds NICE. I haven’t been out doing my usual outdoor fitness fun for a couple of weeks now and I’m anxious to get back to it. It definitely does you good. π Kudos on your success with the challenge so far. Here’s to another fabulous week! *cheers*
