Join us for the Fall 2016 Low Carb Challenge!
Happy Monday! 🙂 We’re kicking off the 5th week of the challenge, and it’s time for the 4 Week Weigh-In.
If you’re participating in the Challenge Facebook Group, use that link to post your weigh-in. Otherwise you can leave a comment here on this post.
I haven’t shared a Food Diary with you for a few days, so I’ll do that in the next post. I have a few cool things to share with you! 🙂
I’ve mostly been eating the same things lately: my favorite low carb cereal, sausage & eggs, my usual snacks etc – but I do have some thoughts & fun food ideas to share with you! I’ll work on that for the next post…
In the meantime, you can scan my instagram photos for a quick photo tour of the low carb meals I’ve been eating the last few days.:)
Update: I just checked and the Low Carb Brownie Mix is STILL sold out, but she’ll be shipping again starting later this week or next. 🙂 Yay! She has a low carb cookie mix too, which is ALSO sold out, but I managed to order one before they got gone – so I’m going to make those today. I’ll let you know how they turn out!
I would love to have another pan of those brownies, lol – yum.
The next Keto Krate box is shipping this week, so we’ll all have some fun things to try and talk about soon! They are shipping daily right now so you can still get one this week too if you sign up now. Here’s what’s in the box: September Keto Krate.
I’ll keep this short for now, then share my food diaries and some cool stuff with you in the next post. I have LOTS to share with you, but I’m short on time this morning, lol.
It’s a crazy busy Monday here! 😛
How are things going for you?
It’s day 29 and we’re kicking off the 5th week of the challenge. 🙂 How are you doing with your low carb meals & macro tracking? Any questions or struggles?
I would love to hear your results so far…
Don’t forget to weigh-in, here or in the Challenge Group.
Leave a comment and let’s talk!

I’m kinda frustrated that the scale isn’t reflecting how great im feeling and how well I’m staying on track. I haven’t lost any more since week 3. But I keep trucking on. I always get no more than 20 net carbs and at least 70% healthy fats. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. BUT I do feel fantastic!!!
Hi Casey π That’s actually normal. There’s a typical “hold” or even slight fluctuations during week 2 or 3 – after the initial weight loss. It’s just your body adjusting. All you have to do is keep doing what’s obviously working during that phase! It’s frustrating / discouraging I know, especially after such great results the first 2-3 weeks, but it IS totally normal. π
As long as you haven’t changed anything, or stopped/started anything, you’ll be fine. If you ARE doing something different now vs then, go back to what you were doing before. π
Thanks so much! I’m gonna go back on my fitness pal and compare how I was eating a couple weeks ago and see if there’s any difference that may be the culprit. I truly appreciate your help and advice! I couldn’t do this without your help. Most people think I’m crazy when I mention keto π so to have this place to come to is so helpful!! Bless you on this manic Monday!!
LOL Casey, thank you!! That made me smile. π That’s the best thing to do of course. Then wait it out. You’ve seen me go through many long spells – and it was SO worth it!
Just know it’s normal, your body has to adjust to fast weight loss. That helps. The longer you stay consistent the more you’ll notice these common cycles with your body. π
Very frustrated w/ my self for the way I was this weekend…I was steadily losing last week and feeling like I had an amazing handle on things. I fell off the wagon this weekend after drinking, and because of drinking…so just frustrated in general at my lack of control. Luckily I didn’t do anything too crazy, but I am aboslutely going to get back to the way I was feeling last week. IT FELT AMAZING AND I FELT AMAZING…I felt thin! I am so glad that I no longer give up after failing. I know better and I love feeling good about myself, so even though yesterday morning was a let down (I asked for substitutions for breakfast and was told no…I should have just not gotten the items I tried to substitute but I didn’t) that didn’t mean that I blew it the rest of the day, even though I felt like I should. Anyway, sorry to whine…just…despite the letdowns I’m still proud of my perseverance. I’m not going to weigh myself for a few days so that I don’t let that get in my head too much. After a few days 100% back on plan, I will step on that bad boy and show myself it’s ok! Ha!
I love that AMAZING feeling. π You’re doing great, Amy – you’ll be back to that awesome feeling in no time!! You *should* be proud of yourself. Not every day is a “big win” – but it’s the long game that really counts. π I had an off plan meal over the weekend myself (intentionally) – which I’ll discuss in my next post.:) Just put it behind you, it’s nothing but a “food memory” now! Here’s to an AMAZING week!!
Thank You! Every little piece of encouragement helps me so much! Thanks Lynn! Yes, here’s to an AMAZING week, and life!
The scale has been stuck around 164.6 for the past 2 weeks, but I do think I’ve lost an inch or so around my stomach and elsewhere, so I know the scale will catch up soon. That’s how it seems to go for me. I’ll lose 1-2 pounds one week, then be stuck for a few weeks before the scale moves again. I’m going to meal plan this week and that will help too.
That is exactly how it goes for me too, Kate. π When you KNOW that’s your normal weight loss cycle, it’s not near as frustrating. It actually motivates me to hold out for that next drop.:)
Feeling a little frustrated. I started this journey on 8/11 weighing 147, I fell off the wagon 1 day but have been really good about tracking since then. Was really happy seeing the weight go down almost every day. I weighed myself on 8/27 and was at 141.2, today I weighed myself and I’m up to 143. I’m feeling my clothes a little looser but would like to see the numbers go down. I try to read as much info as I can buy wondering what I’m doing wrong. I know at the beginning of this I was eating a little to lean because I was sort of hesitant to eat so much butter and meat. Some people have mentioned and egg fast, do you recommend that? Any tips?
Thanks
Hi Mel π
I don’t eat a ton of butter and meat myself. There are lots of delicious healthy fats to enjoy: pecans, walnuts, avocado, grilled salmon, egg salad, etc.
Just keep it super simple: 20 net carbs max, 70% fat minimum. Don’t try to “diet” or “fast” – just relax into eating healthy low carb foods and tracking it all. Keep it that easy!
Your weight will fluctuate A LOT. It will even fluctuate 5 pounds or more in a single day, which is why you should only weigh yourself first thing in the morning right after you pee. Even an hour later is inaccurate.
It’s ideal to just weigh once a week on Monday mornings, but most of us weigh daily. π
Stepped on the scales this morning and was surprised to be down another 1lb.. Not sure why it’s such a surprise because I am sticking to it! I guess disbelief that I finally found something that works for me! Total weight loss since Aug 1st = -8.9. Thanks for your support!
Wow Jennifer – you’re doing GREAT! π I’m glad to hear you’re sticking to it like you are, and that it’s working so well for you. Kudos for holding strong!! Here’s to another great month.:) *cheers*
Hi Lyn
I usually weigh in on Tuesday so i will know by tomorrow if i lost
You know i was thinking about the scale thing today and decided that i am not measuring my success by the numbers on the scale—that can be very discouraging at times.
I had to remember how great i looked in my midi length dress that was scalloped on the sides. I noticed men (and woman) were looking at me and men being nicer to me lol. (Opening doors for me and giving me polite smiles) when i was walking into my usual church the guard there on duty who is always polite to me said. ” you’re looking good today” i said thank you but was thinking i guess i usually look like a slob…..me talking negative things again to myself…..argh
I do not usually wear dresses so maybe i need to do that more. I usually go for comfortable clothes.
I trie on a maxi skirt i bought last summer and the waist was so large on me that my skirt literally fell to my feet when i tried it on…….THAT is progress but now i got a whole closet full of clothes that are too big for me:(
That dress i wore yesterday was a new dress that i bought but never wore it yet.
I didn’t mean to be sounding like i was being pretentious here are boasting about how god i look cause you know i really don’t believe it still…….
These mind sets are so difficult to get over
And i still feel “fat” and i really do have a lot of fat to lose but i look soooooo much better than i did 3 years ago
Tomorrow i will confront the scale. π
I meant good not god……argh….these typos
Hi Gina! I look forward to hearing how it goes with the scale today. π I agree with you on both the scales and the mindset. Both can be sources of serious frustration. But you’re right to go by how you look and feel – and how your clothes fit!
I have a whole closet full of clothes I can’t wear now too. I also have clothes I can FINALLY wear again though. π
It’s good to focus on how far we’ve come, and what a great thing we’re doing for our health and our bodies (AND our mindset!) – rather than how far we have left to go. I have to remind myself of that one all the time.:)
Hi Lynn, I am new here so I am trying to take it all in. I noticed where you said that you didn’t eat much butter, but I am wondering how everyone gets in all that fat? It seems that the only things that I am eating thus far, has been eggs cooked in butter and bacon and salad. I don’t know how to get in the fat without eating other things with it that are not high fat, but instead are high carb. Does that make sense? Like pasta, for instance. I could make a high fat alfredo sauce but then what do you put it on? Can you give me an idea of where to find the foods that I can eat and how to get the high fat in my meals? Thank you so much. Just starting the journey, but having some difficulty of not getting bored with the food choices.
Hi Cindy π I do eat butter, just not tons of it or anything. I sauteed a cup of veggies in a TBSP of real butter with my meal yesterday for example. I do that as much because it tastes good (and keeps my veggies from sticking, lol) as I do for the fat – and real butter is a good food.
I eat pecans every day, which are the lowest carb / highest fat nut on the list. Pecans are a great source for healthy fats, without being greasy.
For your Alfredo sauce, I love “chicken alfredo” over sauteed broccoli slaw (it’s in the produce section) or over steamed broccoli – it’s great over greens! I also use Alfredo sauce to make a stew. π See: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/12333/low-carb-oven-stew/
I publish my food diaries here so you can look through those and see my actual MyFitnessPal logs to get some ideas. I eat very simple (easy!) but there are TONS of foods to choose from.
I don’t do Atkins or phases/programs, but this is a great food list to start with: https://www.atkins.com/how-it-works/atkins-20/phase-1/low-carb-foods Just scan over that for ideas. π
