Join us for the Fall 2016 Low Carb Challenge!
I woke up this morning down another half pound, at an even 139 pounds. 🙂
I had over 1800 calories yesterday with 22 net carbs, 95 grams of protein, and 74% of my calories in healthy fats.
My goals are 20 net carbs max, 70% fat minimum. I pretty much ignore all the other numbers.
Many people have told me they struggle to get at least 70% fat in their daily diet. I find it to be easy!
This should prove helpful: Healthy Fats & Super Foods To Eat Every Day
Here are ALL of my low carb meals yesterday, plus my MyFitnessPal food diary so you can see how I logged those meals…
Saturday’s Low Carb Meals
For breakfast I had the rest of the Johnsonville kielbasa that I fried in just a bit of Guy’s Sugar Free BBQ Sauce, plus 2 large eggs scrambled with colby jack cheese in real butter. (5 net carbs and 78% fat)
I rarely snack, but I did have this delicious late morning snack of Low Carb Nut & Flax Cranberry Granola with mozzarella sticks yesterday. That’s so yummy together! 🙂
You can see the nutrition facts and/or order the low carb granola in 3 different flavors here. A 42 gram serving is only 2 net carbs, and really fills me up!
Later in the afternoon I was busy so I had my favorite healthy “low carb cereal.”
It’s nice to have an easy favorite like this on hand that you can just grab & eat without any fuss, especially when you don’t feel like cooking!
It’s 1/2 cup pecans, 1/4 cup Daisy brand cottage cheese, 4 small diced strawberries and 17.5 grams of blueberries. (6 net carbs and 85% healthy fats)
I was torn on what to have for dinner…
I had a few options but I was tired and didn’t feel like cooking. Right about that time Joe showed up (surprise!) with my favorite take-out meal from Applebee’s. 🙂
It’s the Casar Salad (no croutons) with grilled salmon instead of chicken. I ate the salmon (YUM!) and saved the salad to enjoy today…
Here’s My MyFitnessPal Diary for Saturday:

It’s a rainy/stormy day here in Tennessee, which is PERFECT.
I’m in for the next couple of days, and absolutely love to sit on the deck and enjoy a good storm or a nice breezy rain. 🙂
I work from home so I often lounge on the back deck with my laptop with Slim by my side, which is SO nice. This week I’ve been working on some downloads for you that you’ll LOVE! Stay tuned for those. I’ll send you notification by email when they’re ready so make sure you’re subscribed.
Since I’m staying in this weekend, I need to do a good home workout today. While getting dressed this morning (lol, ugh!) I decided it’ll be core & abs day! 🙂
How are things going for you?
It’s day 21 of the 90 Day Challenge. How are you doing with your low carb meals & macro tracking? Any questions or struggles? I would love to hear your results so far.
Leave a comment and let’s talk!

ok…as of today I am going back on this diet. I did very well from February through June and just lost it. I have eaten like crazy over the summer and hopefully I can do well again. So first thing I did today was weigh and look for your email and it was there. Have gained 10 lbs yuck. You and I are about the same age. I have a daughter that just left for college…12 hours away. I also have a son that just started high school. I have to keep tons of food in the house for him. My husband supports whichever way I need to eat so I should be good to go as long as I avoid all of my sons food! Wish me luck.
Welcome back, Amy! 🙂 It’s so great that your husband supports whatever you decide & eat. That’s a good guy! Joe is very supportive as well, like knowing my favorites and showing up with the salad – or the trail mix yesterday. That’s just super cool.:)
My daughter left for college 2 years ago last month, 4 1/2 hours away, and I miss her SO much. Both of them actually. My son is 24 and a few hours away too.
I’m so glad you’re joining us and getting back on track. You’ll be SO happy you did!!
I had a delicious breakfast this morning….cream cheese crepes with a filling of cream cheese and cinnamon sugar (swerve)…rolled-nuked a minute and topped with SF Mrs. Butters worth maple syrup and a dollop of SF whipped cream. YUMMY! Also my fresh ground decaf and hvy whip cream…crystal light OJ with some Glucomannan as a thickening agent.
I have a nice picture I wanted to insert but… can’t for the life of me figure out how! Must be the same old problem…on an iPad and not a computer!
Yum, Sydney! 🙂 That sounds fabulous!
I don’t think there’s a way to insert a picture here in the comments, unless you have it posted somewhere (instagram or facebook?) and then link to it here…
I have been off track for a couple of weeks since moving, everything still not in order. Luckily I haven’t really gained, just fluctuating within 2-3 pounds. I have beeneating more carbs than I usually do and it seems to cause me to hold fluid. Is that a “normal” side effect of carb load. Anxious to get my focus back. Thanks for your posts and encouragement Terry.
Yes, Shelley – it’s because a ketogenic low carb diet is a natural diuretic, which is why you lose so much water weight the first week and always feel lean / less bloated. The minute I eat carbs or go off plan, I bloat up like a water balloon lol.

See if this shows you my breakfast picture…. Thanx for the info Miss Lynn
Beautiful!! 🙂
I normally don’t spread negativity BUT…I feel so discouraged not losing one single ounce in over 3 months being very faithful on my program….even myfitnesspal numbers are GOOD. The reason is being on this stupid steroid I guess….even before when I lost slow at about a pound a week having thyroid meds in me and menopause …two artificial knees….so have a hard time exercising etc etc etc….can’t lose weight to save my sorry behind! Trying to NOT get diabetes2 ….Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Hoping to get off steroids sometime this year and on something else. ( embrel?). Maybe better luck then.
That’s not negativity, Sydney – that’s reality. And it’s a great topic/question! First, given what you’re going through, and especially being on a steroid, eating a healthy low carb diet will at least keep you from GAINING weight.
I know when I took a steroid I gained weight at an alarmingly fast rate (this was before I went low carb). I literally had to buy a new (larger) size of jeans EVERY week, lol. Scary! So just take a deep breath and be relieved you’re at least maintaining. 😉
You said suggestions were appreciated… your breakfast today was beautiful! But my advice is to cut out cream cheese, artificial sweeteners and to go SUPER simple with your foods & food combinations.
Shoot for 3 ingredients per plate max, and keep it really simple: meat & greens + healthy fats. See: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/6064/3-ingredients-rule/ for more on that, it’s all about Food Combining science.
Start by cutting out: cream cheese, cheese, nuts, any processed foods or bars/shakes, diet soda and artificial sweeteners – or keep those to an extreme minimum. Those are the known stallers.
Also check these 4 points: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/5093/not-losing-weight-eating-low-carb/ just to make sure you have all your bases covered. 🙂
Contrats Lynn on being consistent! The more I stay on this woe the more I understand how hard it is to stay consistent. I’ve been bad I guess, even though I’ve been very consistent since the start of this 90 Day Challenge, all you have to do is go off a little and you gain! I had a glass of wine Friday night one glass! 5oz, 3g carbs! And also last night. Then we ordered Chinese on Friday, my husband wanted it so I tried to be SO good. I ordered egg drop soup, and Moo Shoo Pork, (I looked it up before ordering) it’s pork and cabbage? I thought that would be a good choice. It was so blah, LOL, I didn’t care for it, had a few bites, no “pancakes” or sauce. Then a few pieces of General Tso chicken, maybe 3 or 4 pieces. That was it, I’m up 2lbs this morning. Have only lost 3lbs since I started so almost back to square one. It’s so hard to be consistent, so again I congratulate you.
I got my brownie mix yesterday and made brownies, I cut them into 12 pieces and only had one so I don’t think that is why I gained. They were good, but nothing like your pictures, not nearly all that ooey gooey LOL. I didn’t use peanut butter on top, I love brownies with nuts so that’s what I did, just the mix and nuts. Oh and I did half butter and half coconut oil to make 1/2 cup. Maybe I cooked them a little too long because I read where y’all had to cook them a lot longer than the recipe called for, maybe because I didn’t use the peanut butter they cooked faster? They were good but I was a little disappointed, a little dry and not quite sweet enough for me. The “cooling” feel is from the erythritol, it wasn’t bad.
Sorry if this post is a downer :(, I don’t mean it to be, I’m just being real :).
Roye
I bloat up everytime i eat Chinese food. The sauces they use are very high Sodium. Soy sauce is like chinese salt…..it is so salty
if you eat clean for the next couple of days that weight will probably come back off.i suspect it is water weight
also alcohol will stall weight loss
i ate Chinese food again last night but no sauces or carbs.
Dont give up….my weight came back down after staying on track again and excercizing.
Thank you Gina, I know alcohol stalls your weight loss, it was only one little glass :)).
I’m not giving up, I’m just impatient.
I totally understand impatience. 🙂 If you go by MY experience though, staying consistent for a few months straight (just a few little months out of your whole entire life!!) totally changes everything…
Not only have I lost the last of the weight I could NOT seem to lose before – but I now have NO cravings. Or when I get a “mental craving” I can’t even WANT to eat anything I can think of!
It’s a chicken & egg kinda thing – but refusing to eat it long enough, made it where I can’t even eat it now at all.
I’m not saying never ever, surely someday, but at the moment I can’t even muster up the desire for anything even remotely off plan. 🙂
Hang in there! 🙂 🙂 *cheers*
I love real! 🙂 I would say it’s definitely NOT the brownies since I ate the whole batch and lost weight, lol.
The chinese food is likely the culprit. When you logged it, how did that come out? The General Tso chicken is breaded of course. I would guess all of it combined (the chinese food I mean) knocked you out of ketosis.
Just eat clean as Gina mentioned and stay super simple / low carb for a few days and that weight will come right back off. 😉
Ironically I was thinking about Chinese earlier today, and pizza lol. It IS hard to stay consistent. I struggle too. I’m probably due an off plan meal soon, but staying as consistent as I have for so long… the idea of it only sounds good in my mind (not in my mouth). 😛
Thanks Lynn, I knew you would appreciate real :). And another reality, I didn’t track the Chinese food :(, it was a whole order and I had a few bites, I don’t know how to track when I do that?, and the same with the General Tso Chicken, I had 3 pieces? I know it’s a lot of sugar though. But we won’t be doing Chinese again for awhile. Whether the wine or the Chinese, it did kick me out of ketosis.
Back on track today, my weight was the same as yesterday, still up 2lbs.
I just try to track it the best I can. If it was 1/4 a serving, I track it as .25 in my tracker. I find tracking it ANYway holds me more accountable.
Regardless, no worries! It’s over. 🙂 Food Guilt is worse than any food you can ever eat, so just let it be behind you – as it is.
It takes me 3 full days to get back into ketosis and start to lose again. 😉
I love your stuff! So much info and so encouraging!! Today I found myself at a potluck dinner after church…I was panicked. I had no clue what was in anything so I opted for deviled eggs and green beans….maybe not the best choice but I did my best. What do you do in those situations? Thanks in advance for all your help!!
Hi Casey,
Those sound like great choices! In a situation like that I eat any plain meat, plain veggies etc. Then I focus on enjoying the company. 🙂 If you have to just sip a water & socialize then eat later, that’s okay too!
I am learning more ways to stay low carb and eat out or in any situation
Today at the restaurant i chose the Thai green salad with a light sesame oil dressing. I told the waitress to skip the wonton crisps on top. It was delicious
then i ordered the Cajun pasta bowl….with no pasta. Haha. It had blackened chicken smoked sausage, tomatoes, green onions in a spicy tomato cream sauce. It was yummy without the pasta. I did not like the sausage so i just ate the chicken.
Last night i ordered Lo mein without the noodles……just meat and veggies
it is amazing how the restaurants really will accomadate your requests
sounds funny doesn’t it ” give me a Cajun pasta bowl with no pasta” haha.
I am figuring this all out and it is usually pretty easy……but i have to be strong not to cave in to temptation for deserts mostly. 🙂
That all sounds delicious, Gina! Of course, I’m hungry right now. 🙂 haha. I’m craving some variety, but haven’t felt like getting out lately. I love pasta dishes, like chicken alfredo, over grilled or roasted veggies instead of pasta – that’s one of my favorites at Macaroni Grill. 🙂
Oh Lynn…THANK YOU for all your encouragement-suggestions and advice!!! I’m gonna do “ALL” of it!! The first week on steroids I gained TEN pounds! I immediately started eating low carb. I initially lost 4 pounds then held steady the same weight for over 3 months now. Your right…beats gaining. I can always go back and have my occasional cream cheese crepes and cheesy omelets etc. when off the steroids. Eating meats and greens is best for now. I don’t eats nuts, or drink shakes….do have bacon n hot dogs now n then…but NO packaged canned or processed anything else. My weakness is diet soda…..I have about two a week….and sugar substitute (stevia and erythritol). I was thinking to eat just meats -fish-greens and eggs for now. Gonna go ck out the links you sent. Again….thanx so much!
I took myself off of steroids back in 2007. I wanted to lose weight for my daughters wedding and i knew that the only way i could do it was to get off those nasty meds that blew me up like a big hot air baloon
i suffered with rebound pain and could hardly walk while withdrawing from steroids but i did it and idc i told my dr. What i did and i have the right to refuse any medications as does anyone else. I told him NEVER and i do mean NEVER will i ever take steroids again
i looked back at my photo from my daughters wedding and even though i had barely lost mych weight at that point, my face was round and i cannot believe how big i was
luckily i was able to take hold of my lufe again and through biologic meds and weight loss i am practically pain free most days. I DO have my days of flare ups but especially since i have been staying lchf my pain level is so much more tolerable even on my worst day . I have rheumatoid arthritis but i am soooo much better now than 10 years ago. I got my life back and i no longer need to use a cane to walk . I thank God every day
i wish i had the nerve to show everybody my before and after photos. My befire pucture was so horrible. I never want to go back to how i looked then and most of all how horrible i felt. I was in chronic pain for years. Someday i will post those photos privately.
I still am not really ar the “after” size i want to be but i am not giving up.
I have an appointment with a rheumatologist 8/8th….hoping to get on embrel and ween off the steroid and back on track losing my pound a week. I really really hate this steroid and will never take it again! In the Meantime I’m gonna eat simple and uncomplicated. Meat fish eggs greens…very tiny dairy and no sugar substitute for two solid weeks and THEN weigh and see if it budged an ounce! Lol. Worth a try. I guess I’m off my crystal light too What does BPC stand for? Was listed with cheese and cream cheese etc to stay away from while in a stall stage.
BPC is bullet proof coffee (coffee with butter & coconut oil in it) – and I stalled/gain drinking it myself. Some people lose faster drinking it. Go figure! lol
I think because I get enough fat in my diet through my actual foods, I didn’t need all that.
Just be glad you aren’t blowing up like a balloon right now. 🙂 You’re doing GREAT eating healthy and maintaining through all of this!
I think the Embrel will help you get off the steroids. I take Orencia. It is similar to Embrel
i could not lose weight until i got off steroids……but it took a while to get them out of my system
i did not go on the biologic until 2010.
I might have two Diet Cokes a week myself, Sydney. I can’t drink a whole one, but I’ll have one with a meal sometimes (part of one). Or have a sip or two here and there. I used to drink 6 a day, so that’s a HUGE improvement lol.
Good plan, and I’m glad you appreciated the advice. 🙂 I would make your yummy recipes a “treat” at no more than once a week. Maybe enjoy something like that on a Saturday or Tuesday only – so you have something to look forward to.
Otherwise eating super simple and clean will help A LOT. 🙂
