I woke up 152 pounds this morning. That’s 4.2 pounds lost since my weigh-in last Sunday morning – when I weighed 156.2 pounds. 🙂 Yay!
The countdown is ON. 7 days, including today, until I leave for Vegas. I’ve been fighting the urge to eat junk food, which always happens when I get this close to my goal weight 😛 but the upcoming trip has me motivated to power through.
The thought DID cross my mind that some of my clothes may be slightly big on me for the trip. Ahhh how the mind can rationalize a good cheat if you let it! 😛
NOT going to happen.

Here’s what I ate yesterday…
Saturday’s Low Carb Food Diary
My breakfast yesterday was a bowl full of healthy low carb foods, plus an Atkins Bar (Peanut Butter Granola). Because if you’re going to eat a “frankenfood” (a candy bar for breakfast, lol) you should at least have something healthy with it! 😛
It’s 1/2 cup Daisy Brand cottage cheese + 1/4 cup pecans + 3 diced strawberries + the Atkins bar (chopped up). All stirred together it tastes like “cereal”. 🙂 This bowl was 10 net carbs, which is high for one meal (for me)…
When I make a bowl of low carb foods like this, I measure everything out and track it individually in MyFitnessPal – based on the brands & amounts. You can see that in my complete MyFitnessPal Food Diary below.
Pecans & Colby Jack Cheese are a favorite low carb snack! It also makes for an easy low carb lunch on a busy day. 🙂 I had 1/2 cup pecans + .92 ounces Colby Jack cheese (off the block). It was 512 calories (very filling!), 2 net carbs & 89% healthy fats.
I had one slice of pizza leftover, so I snacked on that – cold, straight out of the fridge. 🙂 I had already peeled the toppings off the crust, so it made for a “quick grab” when I needed a bite to eat.
I had a block of cheese (.95 ounces) later in the afternoon too. I kinda snacked all afternoon – out of laziness (lol) but also because I was right in the middle of a big creative project and just couldn’t be bothered to cook. 😉
For dinner I just grabbed a Low Carb Grilled Chicken Club from Hardee’s (7 net carbs). Easy!
I drank 24 ounces of water yesterday, and had 6 coffees. I ended up with 1689 calories, 26 net carbs, 88 grams of protein, and 73% of my calories from fats.
Here’s how my macros worked out for the day…
MyFitnessPal Net Carb Food Diary:
I didn’t “work out” yesterday, but I stayed pretty active and did almost 5,000 steps on my FitBit. You can see it in the cheese picture above -it’s the Plum FitBit ChargeHR. I love that thing! 🙂 Today I am aiming to get in cardio plus some kind of toning / strength training exercise. It’s going to get up to 50 degrees and the sun is shining, so perhaps I’ll take my big boys for a nice long walk this afternoon. 🙂
How are things going for you? Today is the 3rd day of the New Year already. Are you starting off STRONG, or still winding down from the holidays?
I’m on a serious mission, with visions of many hot boat days this summer. 🙂 Spring will be here before you know it!! If you need some motivation, be sure to join us for the 2016 Low Carb Challenge that kicks off tomorrow (on Monday)!
Best,

Thanks for being real about struggles you and we all face staying on target! How do you get My Fitness Pal to record net carbs? Love that my Garmin syncs with it.
Lynn Terry says
Here is the hack I use to get Net Carbs in MFP: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/4448/myfitnesspal-hack/ It only works online, not on the mobile app, but I still use the app to track on the go. π

Congrats Lynn. I also had a smile on my face this morning. I dropped the 4 pounds gained from Christmas till the end of 2015 when most of us were ohhhh so naughty. At 146.8 and looking to get to 133 by May 1st, this WOE is great!!! Happy New Year!
Lynn Terry says

Hi Lynn,
I tried to do the “net carb hack” for MFP and I have a Mac computer. We don’t have chrome or Firefox. Do you know any other way I can do it on my Mac?
Thanks for all you do,
Amy π
Lynn Terry says
Hi Amy,
I did it on my Macbook by using the Chrome browser. You can just install that browser to set it up if you want to use it. Here are the instructions again: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/4448/myfitnesspal-hack/

Lynn,
I have been following you for awhile, I am impressed, intrigued, and addicted to your journey. I too want to be at goal weight. I hit my goal weight 50 times last year. Can I stay there? I am now up 3 pounds. So close, I too self sabatage my self. I feel empty or something and have to be filled up. I am celebrating because I lost 30 pounds I was carrying since I was 12 and made it to my goal weight at 46. I feel like I am part of your journey and am looking for answers.
Thank you for being honest and open to the world.
Lynn Terry says
Thank you Sarah π Congrats on reaching your goal weight!! Fluctuating a few pounds here and there isn’t too big a deal. It’s when you start adding zeroes (30 pounds instead of 3) that it becomes a problem… lol π Ack!
I understand the “feeling empty” and filling that void with food. I was not always an emotional eater. That just started for me about 6 years ago, and it’s something I really want to break.
One thing I’ve been doing over the last year or two is filling my life up with other things that are … fulfilling (not just filling). New friends, new hobbies and adventures, books even. I’m still working on that – adding things into my life that add to my overall well being (sense of contentment).

I appreciate your sharing! When I look at your meals, they are much smaller than mine–maybe that’s the reason I’m stuck while you are losing! It helps me to see portion sizes, because after years of dieting, I have no “sense” when it comes to that. I’ve lost 100 lbs, but gained back 10 in the last month. Partly, I’ve started adding in some carbs like zucchini, cauliflower, and pumpkin. I needed to do that, because my zero carb lifestyle had started to drain me after 2 years. But, part of my gain just came from poor choices over the holidays.Tomorrow I’m back to work, and back to being on plan.
Lynn Terry says
Hi Lauri,
When I eat off plan, or eat higher carb foods, I tend to eat much more food – bigger portions. It induces cravings. As long as I eat a ketogenic low carb diet (20’ish net carbs, and at least 70% of my calories from healthy fats)… I have hardly any appetite and no real cravings – just the mental battle lol, but no actual cravings.
That’s why my portions seem smaller, but you’ll notice I get as high as 2,000 calories on some days. Usually over 1200 and somewhere in that range, so it’s not like I’m not eating plenty. π
Congrats on losing 100 pounds!! The 10 you’ve put back on should come off quickly if you start tracking super close and do the 20 net / 70 fat. π

How the heck do you just eat the toppings? I love the crust when I use to eat pizza twice a year?…..?

Dedication π LOL – I’m on a serious mission! Plus the low carb flu stinks, so I definitely don’t want to put myself through that again. π
