“It’s entirely too hot outside.”
“I have a million other things I have to get done today, and I just don’t have time.”
Those were my top three reasons for not working out this morning. But honestly, we could come up with a good reason every single day. Life is full of them. But from here on out, my motto is:
No Excuses! It’s Time to Start Working Out!
There’s a saying that goes something like, “It’s not what you do one day that makes a difference. It’s what you do EVERY day.” That saying keeps coming to mind as I try really hard to get in the “habit” of exercising regularly. It seems I do really good for a spell, and then fall right back into my usual routine (and excuses).
I just turned 39 earlier this month, and I have some ambitious goals I want to reach before I turn 40. On top of those, I would really like to step into that new decade in great shape – and at the dress size that makes me feel best. I plan to rock “Forty & Fabulous” to the fullest extent. 😉
Last week I started back on my low carb diet after “falling off the wagon” back in February. I started back on Monday, and had dropped four full pounds by Friday morning! That’s always encouraging. 😀 Not to mention I felt TONS better in just a few short days.
That said, losing weight alone is just not enough. I mean, have you seen your body underneath your weight?! I can’t speak for yours, but after losing 25 pounds I was shocked to find I didn’t have the same figure prior to gaining that weight. LOL.
In addition to wanting a tone figure I can be proud of, being in good health is just as big a motivator.
One of my primary goals is to strengthen my core to help support my lower back issues. That can be a catch-22 when my back gets in a pinch, but if I truly take on the “No Excuses! It’s Time to Start Working Out” thinking… those are the days I could do simple stretches or even go for a light swim.
I really enjoyed Curves Fitness Center, but never did sign up after my free pass was up. Shame on me, I know! So I think I’ll go back to that, as it was FUN.
You can also get a Free Pass to 24 Hour Fitness (Week Free!) if you have one of those in your area.
Curves will be great while it’s too hot & humid here in Tennessee to get in a good outdoor walk with my Dane. We both totally melt in the heat, LOL. But honestly, it has been cooler around sunrise if I could get going & motivated early enough – and we would both *really* enjoy it. Again, no excuses…
I would love to hear what holds you back most from getting your regular workouts. And if you’re interested in getting on track, and working out on a regular basis, what changes could you make that would help you fit it into your routine?
I hope you’ll join me with the “No Excuses! It’s Time to Start Working Out!” motto. 😉
Let’s get motivated, and work on this together!

Hey Lynn π
I’m loving my Anytime Fitness membership. Having a gym two minutes away from home is a great excuse squasher. I work out five or six nights a week there plus I like to go swim a couple times a week at my ‘other’ gym that’s about ten minutes away.
I do not like being hot and sweaty so if I had to walk outside I’m sure I’d make excuses about it – especially with tomorrow’s 98 degree weather.

The heat is really ridiculous here, with highs over 100 degrees this weekend. I do wish we had more gym options, an indoor pool would be really nice. I live in the middle of nowhere lol – I was surprised we had a Curves here! π
More often than not though, I prefer doing Zumba at home. Less fuss!

I did a little Zumba to some YouTube videos a month or so ago – it’s not for me LOL! I wiggle and jiggle just a little too much for those moves π

LOL you should see ME do Zumba. I do not move like that, plus I’m a serious klutz. π haha I still love doing it though, it’s a great workout if I at least try to keep up. My goal is to one day be able to do it RIGHT lol.
I do like Curves better because I love the arm machines, and just being around other people with similar goals…
p.s. Your fitness updates on Facebook really inspire me every time I see them!!
