After a few days of being totally off track earlier this week, I got back to “eating clean” yesterday.
I started my day with leftover steak for breakfast, which was just as good the second time around as it was when I ordered it at O’Charley’s. 🙂 Yum!
I’ve discovered that it’s really easy to get back on track if you eat super clean, meaning you stick to meat & eggs for a few days.
Cutting out almost ALL of the carbs really reduces any cravings. For me, at least.
For lunch I had 2 scrambled eggs with cheese, and for dinner I had the rest of the steak with some leftover broccoli:
I saved what few carbs I did eat yesterday (broccoli) for dinner, which I’ve found helps me sleep better.
Notice my new plates? 😀 I am loving them!! I ordered them on Amazon.com, and you can see them better in this video post on my video blog. They are the perfect size, shape and depth – and they were a great deal.
Anyway, just wanted to share a quick update. I’d love to hear how you’re doing, and what you’re eating! 😀

Hey Lynn! We love Mexican but I’m always having to be watchful for carbs on those nights. I did splurge with a marguerita last night, but that’s unusual lately. Normally I have water with lemon or a diet coke. I usually get a tostado (beef or chicken, lettuce, cheese, tomato, etc on a tortilla). I just don’t eat the tortilla. I do love Chili Relenos (sp?) except I can’t handle ANY hot peppers at all. I mean…even pablanos are too hot for me.
Well, we always go to the same Mexican restaurant and we’re one of their regulars and favorites. So the owner created a special dish just for me! I asked one day if he’d make me a chili relenos (baked, not fried) using a sweet bell pepper finstead of a pablano. (Look ma! No heat!) It’s sooooo good!
I keep telling him to put it on the menu because I know others who can’t handle heat from certain peppers too. Anyway, whenever I come through the door I just raise 1 finger or 2 to indicate my order and off he goes! Now how’s that for outstanding customer service? Creating a personal dish just for me!
So, tossed salad, just a dab of low fat ranch dressing, one good sized bell pepper stuffed/baked with hamburger, melted cheese on top and served with hamburger/tomato sauce around the dish. That way, you just dip into the tomato sauce as much or as little as you prefer. So how did I do? (not counting the marguerita splurge, of course!) LOL

Hi Sherie!
I am not familiar with some of those items. For those things, I refer to the search/database at http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/list so you can get a net carb count for individual items and determine the total for your meal.
When I am eating super low carb (ie, eating clean) I skip things like dressing and salad and of course tomato sauce (which generally has a lot of sugar). But all in all, your meal sounds like a healthy one to me! And hey, a margarita now and then is good for the soul, right? π
Unless you’re in induction phase, of course – or wanting rapid weight loss. π LOL

Lynn,
I have been trying to eat super low carb for the last two weeks now. However, I must say yesterday I was in San Francisco at the Warf and I had four pieces of fried breaded calamari with a salad. Other than that; I had leftover Carnitas for breakfast and a prime rib dinner with salad at Loganβs Roadhouse.
I just got done eating two tacos that I made using Morton & Bassett βMexican Spice Blendβ which has no carbs and taste great with the Mama Lupe’s 7-inch Low-Carb Tortillas that I saw mentioned on your site. I must say the tortillas were really good and much better than the La Tortilla Factory Low Carb Wraps that I can purchase locally.
Tonight I am going out to dinner with family that is in town and hoping it will turn out to be low carb friendly.
Well there it is and I am hoping when I step on the scale next Thursday I will have seen some weight loss.

Do you just weight once a week, Les?
I *love* calamari π
How was the dinner out with family??
Les says
Good Afternoon Lynn,
As of right now I am only weighing once a week and have been averaging out 2 pounds a week. I will start bicycling here shortly and I hope to see better results. I should be at my goal weight by September or so if all goes well. The dinner was great thank you and especially since we went out to a steak house.

I’m eating really low carb, too. Mostly meat and eggs. Maybe I need to cut out all dairy? I don’t eat a lot,, but maybe a little is too much. But I also need a scale that works. Yesterday I weighed either 177, or 165, or somewhere in between. Yeah, the scale was on a hard flat surface. Do I need to go to the hardware store and buy a level to get this thing to work? Would it work even then? ARRRRGGGGHHHH!

I ordered an EatSmart Digital Scale from Amazon and I LOVE it. Accurate, and a good looking scale. I’ve been really happy with it.
What kind of dairy are you eating? I use heavy whipping cream in my coffee, and eat some cheese – but very little when I’m “eating clean”.

I also purchased the same scale and am also very pleased. π
