Challenge Details: Important Links & Information

The New Year 2018 Low Carb Challenge runs from Jan 1st to March 31st, 2018.

Starting Weigh-In Thread In The Private Group

Make sure you weigh-in at the link above, in a comment below here on this post, or in your MyFitnessPal account (or whatever app/method you use to track your progress).

Join us for a 13 weeks of FUN as we challenge ourselves to be happier, healthier, leaner & stronger than ever before!

This challenge is only 13 weeks, just 3 months, only 90 days.

It’s enough time to break bad habits, create new habits, improve your health dramatically, lose a substantial amount of weight, and feel amazing!

The timing is perfect to be leaner & look awesome for Spring! πŸ™‚

The challenge: To eat low carb for 90 full days!

That means: 20 net carbs per day max, 70% fat minimum.

By committing to this challenge you agree to stay on track for 90 days by eating 20 net carbs per day MAX, and at least 70% of your calories in healthy fats.

What You Need To Know To Get Started:

Throughout the challenge, I host FUN mini-challenges and share helpful tips & creative ideas. Watch for those! There will be a new theme every week. πŸ™‚ You’ll receive those details by email, and also find those in the Challenge Facebook Group.

Fall Low Carb Challenge To-Do List

1. Weigh yourself first thing in the morning.
This is the ONLY true weigh-in, as your weight fluctuates 5 pounds or more throughout a single day. Post/Log your starting weight today.

2. Set up MyFitnessPal and record your weight there, and also log all of your meals.

This is how I have MyFitnessPal Set Up To Track Net Carbs.
That only works online, not on mobile/tablet.

3. Take body measurements as well, and record those in MyFitnessPal too.

Sometimes you’ll lose more inches than pounds, and it’s another great way to track your progress!

4. I highly recommend you take a “before photo” today. You’ll regret not having pictures to compare! Sometimes the scales may not show much loss, but comparison photos tell a different story. πŸ™‚

5. Read The 8 links above. Educate yourself on how the Low Carb Diet (and this challenge) works!

Do These Steps:

  • Sign up by email at 90DayLowCarbChallenge.com
This will put you on the list to receive official challenge updates. This is not the same as Facebook emails from the group, so make sure you subscribe if you haven’t already!
  • Read the Pinned Post in the Facebook Group
Plus the Getting Started links I shared above. This will eliminate A LOT of repeat questions! πŸ™‚ The Group Rules are posted there as well.

^ Make sure you have all of these steps covered!

Here’s to an AWESOME challenge together! πŸ™‚ *cheers*

I want to help you every step of the way. I’ll be here for you, and like always I’ll share tips & ideas & thoughts with you along the way to help you through all of the challenges of losing weight and getting healthy. Hi Terry!!!

I am a big fan of your emails, thank you. I have been extremely successful at ketosis and ketegenic eating, but fall off track. I have reached an abnormally high weight and feel like total crap. I just turned 52 years old today and my gift to myself is going back on track. I’m very excited to start the low-carb challenge. I do not have a Facebook account but I did join Instagram and I am tracking on my fitness pal Thank you.
    Lucy

  2. Chung says:

    Hi Terry and Lucy πŸ™‚
We’re gonna try this again. So many celebrations, special occasions, date nights, game days, potlucks…pitfalls!! So here we go!

    • Lucy Christiano says:

      Thanx Chung!!!
      We are in this together!!
2:48pm EST and i am still on track!
      Minute by minute…for now!

    • Lynn Terry says:

I’m so glad you joined in too, Chung! There are always holidays and events and such, so what works for me is to find ways to celebrate low carb – and focus more on the FUN than the food. πŸ™‚

I have lots of tips & ideas for that, so stay tuned! Vacation, date night, traveling, holidays, etc – that’s when you want to look and feel your BEST so it pays to find FUN solutions & replacements for those.;)

  4. Brittney says:

I have a question. I am super new to Keto. Is there a product like Advocare Spark that I could take for an energy boost, or is Spark ok to take?

    • Lynn Terry says:

      Hi Brittney πŸ™‚

Advocare Spark is a caffeinated weight loss supplement. I would definitely get off of that. Have you discussed that supplement and your diet change with your doctor?

If you do use it, you need to count it in your tracking. The blue raspberry flavor is 4 carbs per serving, for example. With only 20 net carbs/day, four is a lot for something like that. πŸ˜‰

A ketogenic low carb diet is great for both weight loss AND energy, so if it were me I would save my money on the supplement and just switch to a healthy low carb lifestyle.

      • Lauren says:

I’m new to keto also, and think maybe the bigger question, at least for me is this: I just don’t like coffeeβ€” believe me, I have triedβ€”but do need a little something in the morning as an energy boost for my early drive to work. I switched from Spark (too expensive) to a cheapie Walmart brand of energy powder packets (0 carbs) I mix with water. I don’t like that it has added artificial coloring and flavors, but I haven’t found any other option. Any suggestions for us non-coffee drinkers??

        • Lynn Terry says:

          Hi Lauren,

Once you are in ketosis, you’ll experience a natural energy boost – especially if you include plenty of healthy fats in your daily diet (at least 70% of your total daily calories).

You’ll have more energy running your brain & body on healthy fats than on carbs & sugar – or caffeine. πŸ˜‰

Other than that, most of us need a Vitamin D supplement so you might ask your doctor about that. I am taking a 5000 dose (over the counter) as recommended by my doctor – and it has helped with energy A LOT, especially during these winter months.:)
