Low Carb Bars - Sticky Bar Review

For some crazy reason I mistakenly thought these were going to be chocolate low carb bars (maybe because of the brown color of the packages??), or your usual “processed food” low carb bars… but I was SO wrong! 😛

I’ve had these gluten free, low carb Low Carb Dixie Trail Mix Bars for a few weeks now and actually avoided reviewing them – because I thought they would be AWFUL (lol). 🙄 And because also for whatever reason I assumed they were chocolate – but they are totally NOT (awful or chocolate).

I talked Aaron into trying them with me, since they’re gluten free and also vegan / vegetarian, and to get a second opinion on them for you. 😉

Spoiler: he loved them!! We both loved them actually, but we liked some flavors more than others – for different reasons…

Our first impression: They seem very healthy and wholesome, like “real food” instead of your typical processed food looking low carb bars.

I’ll start with the bar we BOTH loved, then I’ll save MY favorite for last. 🙂

4 Nuts & Flax Sticky Bar

4 Nuts & Flax Sticky Bar

The “4 Nuts & Flax” bar was PERFECT. It’s not too sweet, very nutty, and has a great texture and flavor. We both loved this one!

This bar is only 2 net carbs, and it’s also vegetarian and gluten free.

Trail Mix Sticky Bar

Trail Mix Sticky Bar

The “Trail Mix” bar was our LEAST favorite. It had a weird flavor (something about the pepiptas) and a weird texture too. It’s also FIVE net carbs. It’s not bad but definitely not great – and kinda falls apart in your mouth in a strange way. 😐

Peanut Caramel Sticky Bar

Peanut Caramel Flax Sticky Bar

The “Peanut Caramel Flax” bar was the stickiest of the four. It’s very peanutty, not too sweet, and reminded us both of “soft peanut brittle.” Very good!!

It’s only 2 net carbs, vegetarian & gluten free.

Cranberry Almond Sticky Bar

Cranberry Almond Flax Sticky Bar

The “Cranberry Almond Flax” bar my personal favorite 🙂 because I love and MISS dried cranberries! It’s tart & sweet, VERY cranberry, and doesn’t have a bar texture at all. It’s more like almonds & berries “stickied” together. ♥ MMM!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this one.

It was surprisingly only 3 net carbs, and also vegan & gluten free.

Final Thoughts, After Trying All Four Bars…

These bars live up their name: they are VERY sticky. 🙂

They don’t melt in the heat, but they do get squished easily and become very “flexible” when they’re hot. Still, Aaron and I both agreed they would be GREAT trail food – because they’re both delicious AND healthy.

The ingredients were impressive. They’re not full of junk, and definitely full of healthy whole foods. Plus the fact that there’s no sugar and no malitol made them very pleasant with no tummy worries. I personally love that they have such a great flavor without being sickeningly sweet like most bars.

I miss dried cranberries too. I wonder if these cranberries are sugar free?
These sticky bars remind me of the Atkins trail bars which are very good too but are very hard to chew
I have ” bar phobia” i have wasted more money on bars that tasted horrible. I noticed that any of the bars that contain soy bits are just awful. Ugh. These bars actually look like something i would like. Thanks for trying them for us. 🙂

      Hi Gina 🙂

These Sticky Bars are not hard at all. I have a metal plate in my lower jaw and a lot of dental work from a head trauma / accident – so I have a hard time eating those Atkins trail bars too. They’re almost impossible to bite into! 😛

The Sticky Bars are soft and sticky, a “soft chewy” texture, but more like “ingredients stickied together” if that makes sense. 🙂 It was a totally unique bar!

The flavor was GREAT, except on that one bar I didn’t like, but the flavor problem with that one was with the pepitas – which messed up the texture too.

I like the Atkins trail bars but are quite hard to bite into. I am glad to hear that the sticky bars are not like that. The peanut caramel sticky bar reminds me of a pay day candy bar. But the. Cranberry bar really appeals to me. I love, love dried cranberries! 🙂

YES – a payday bar!! That’s exactly what it’s like. 🙂 My absolute favorite was definitely the cranberry almond bar. I’ll be ordering more of those for sure. They’re perfect to keep with me on the go, or enjoy on my hikes. 🙂
